All your furniture last forever!!! I remember when you made this chair Ray. I thought it wouldn't hold any weight. I was wrong and it's still beautiful as ever.

that's not a surprise, if its worth doing, its worth over doing!

Original idea. It turned out a functional chair. Like!

Thanks Aleksey, it has been a very good chair!

Looks good. Thank you for going through it one piece at a time, i would have missed all of the reductions. The reductions for scale seem to make a large positive impact on the overall design.

+Greg Stewart absolutely, if all the fittings were the same size it would overwhelm the piece....I guess that's why I studied design, lol. Glad you liked the video.

all we can do is keep on keeping on. i try to watch my spending on project too, that's why the homemade stuff is so ....economical, lol. glad you liked the chair, i only had a week to design and build it for school...i was the only one that actually built a chair for the charrette.

Very Nice Ray. I really do like the design. You have done a very nice job both on the design and build.

Thanks Eloy. i slaved over the design...the charrette was only one week and we only had to submit a poster design for a chair....i submitted a chair, lol! i would have won but i was disqualified for misspelling "furtiture". i guess working day and night on a design doesn't mean you can misspell a single word! those bastards

i designed this chair for a design charrette in architecture school. we had a week to design a chair and make a poster...i went a little further and Built the chair first then made the poster! i ended up making a matching desk and coffee table. pub table and high chairs as well, i might have pictures of the other pieces i'll have to look for.

If it helps, Menards and specialty store carry all types of plywood. Chair looks great.
@RayMAKES7 жыл бұрын
+frankie2234 thanks! Plywood like this was very common to find, now you need to get it at specialty hardwood supplier

What bevel did you cut the joints? I really like this design, may have to try one myself! Thanks for the video!
@RayMAKES8 жыл бұрын
+Derrick Robertson I actually don't remember the angle. I do remember cutting them by hand. I laid out the angle on the plywood by putting them in place and scribing and setting a bevel gauge for a guide...all hand work

Awesome chair Ray! How did you join the two boards so the back is resting back closer to a 100 degree angle vs. at a 90 degree angle?
@RayMAKES8 жыл бұрын
+Jake Loeffler I made a slot in the bottom so that the back fits in it and holds it in place. I set my circular saw at an angle and plunged it through.

What is the angle on the back rest? Nice chair!

+Alexander Balderas thanks, I don't remember the angle, but I would guess it's something around 10 degrees
