Um... you did cut them the right size. Your mistake was installing the rack on the wall with the FRONT screwed to the wall, and the BACK facing out. Spin it 180, and you're golden!

Expensive and the tip also dries up. Don't know if they sell replacement for the tip, but it becomes unusable first.
