I'm standing here completely stunned because I just now sat down to find someone that had a recipe for homemade gesso. There you were to my rescue. I'm making it now. You are so inspiring especially when it comes to recycle, up cycle and everything in between. Our world wouldn't be as dirty if people would just do their part in keeping it clean. It's not that hard to do. Thank you for being here today. 👍♥️♥️♥️

TYFS this. Old school gesso, formulated with fine powdered marble, is expensive and very durable. But, it's great for adding "snow", or texture to arts & crafts. Thinned out a bit, I've made alot of projects for miniature houses -- faux foods, "cement" planters/sidewalks/ brick mortar, plastered interior walls, and stucco exteriors.

If I am decoupaging old hymnal paper to a board, should this be done to the board first? Same question if I was painting the board.

So, would you use this as a base on a more porous wood if you’re doing a reverse transfer (in some woods, ink comes off more easily…)

Thank you for this recipe! First time I tried to make it with calcium carbonate from an old art handbook…the man at drugstore…where I called to see if they had the materials…asked me if I were making a bomb! I guess I was talking “too sciencey”!🙄
