You don't need a fancy shop like he has ... A tape measure, circular saw ( be sure to use a plywood blade) electric drill or screw gun ( a magnetic extension helps but they make long screw bits & be sure to get the proper tip for the screws you are using), caulk line, a bottle of wood glue, sanding blocks or sand paper and framers square ( clamps do help but a family member or friend helping works better..think of the time together) ..all these are just base tools ... Design to your needs ☺..good luck👍

I don't even want to start talking about my parents and inlaw's place. Five years ago I said I was booked solid for the next five years and I am still booked solid for at least two. At this point I am not sure if I finished all my goals from back then or added way more. LOL

This guy is about as professional as you can get, first of all he has all the tools to get the job done and he is smart as can be you, you can tell he does a lot of wood work, this guy can start his own business if he hasn't already, I bet he could build custom cabinets or just about anything, great video! And one more thing, why in the world would anybody give this video a thumbs down, who would not like this video? People are just jealous, this guy explains everything in detail and he did an awesome job, people are just sad sometimes.

I'm a carpenter but with far less tools at home. I mean, still a couple thousand worth but I don't have nearly his level of tools. That said, can still pull this off without this degree of tools. You just have to get a bit more creative. Like, instead of a track saw, a basic 6" circular saw and a straight guide would work. I've managed to remodel almost my entire house with the basic tools I have.

Speaking of wd40. If anyone has a cast top tool that is showing a little surface rust, wd40 and a scotch bright will clean it like new. Just my 2 cents.

I made few cabinets with "adjustable" shelves for my family, friends and clients and since they call me on regular basis I always try to sneak a peak if they move the shelves. No one has moved them, including me. I use the same jig as you but I drill every second or third hole because it looks less like swiss cheese or mass produced furniture. I love your vids and I learn quite some stuff from you. Cheers!

All 22/34 4x8 bcx plywood in home depot are either bent or not straight. All other plywoods make this project very expensive. Can i use mdf ?

Great video and great looking closet system…for the rest of you schmucks without the carpentry knowledge or tools, such as myself, closetmaid has very similar kit for about 800 with drawers, all the shelves, and a shoe rack. You can even get fancier if you put an LED strip on the inside of the wall and a smart plug for lighting.

Nice job. I never let my cabinets touch the floor in the closets. I hang them around 6” or so off the floor so one can keep clean, critters cannot hide and replacing the carpet is never an issue.

i'm so glad you did this -- i've been working on a closet system for my wife in the back of my mind for a few weeks now. one question -- what are the advantages to using raw plywood as opposed to using those melamine panels with the pre-drilled shelf holes? is it just more expensive with the melamine? thanks!

I think it would help to have a diagram of where you are while assembling or cutting. A small picture in the corner highlighting which part of the frame your on will help everyone a bunch in following along. Very well done still!

I use the Radiata Pine plywood all the time. It's $30.95 at my big orange store. Multi layers but like Brad said get a straight flat sheet it will not, will not flatten out. Did I mention it will not flatten out? Great build Brad.

I always see these 23/32 sheets of ply at HD but wasn't sure if they were viable for all these home projects. Does the slight difference in thickeness matter vs. the $40-50 3/4" birch/oak/etc. sheets?

It depends on the number of plys. Get at least 7 ply for better projects. Stumpy nubs has a great video on how to read plywood grades. Definitely worth a watch.

Am I the only person that thinks this closet was empty to begin with? My God, my hall closet has that much crap in it but its 1/3 the size. This video was in my suggested video feed glad it was I enjoyed watching it and the commentary you added as well. Would love to see a standard closet converted into a craft storage closet. Stop block... top panel... gang cutting...clamp heads....base cabinet...face frames.....edge band....combination square... it was very reassuring when you messed it up. But then fixed it with a lil piece of tape

I just wanted to ask a question. Where do americans put their clothes while they sleep and when they do not use the same dress again assuming to be wearing after certain day. Im asian and we guys have a wooden hanger which is size of a man where we put clothes we wear. I have never seen american hangers.

You could make a video building something at my house. I have all the basic tools and the bery low budget that most regular everyday people have at home and it would be interesting to see how easy it would be to build some of this stuff with my very basic set up. I dont think it would be as easy but if it can be done i think a lot of us would love to see it. If you are up for the challenge let me know. I have a few projects we can tackle. 😊

Watching some of these videos on various topics around the house is very frustrating. Like yeah, the people that know how to do this have all of these tools which the average homeowner is not going to have. I wish there were more that showed you ways to do things with very simple tools like a drill and maybe at most a circular saw.

My bedroom has a set of bypass doors on my closet and I cant use your design as you wouldntbe able to open the drawers as they would be in the area that is behind the door overlap area. What do you think about moving the drawer stack and hutch to an off center location using the smaller hanging area as a full length hanging area, then using the other (longer) side as a bilevel hanging area for shirts and shorter hanging area. I really like your design and plan on using it. Thanks Kenny Norman

I don't know about others, but I like the adjustable shelf holes because I have NO idea how I'm going to organize the space until it's up and I put stuff in. I start at the bottom and add shelves as I fill the one I'm working on.
