About the iron, you should use distilled or at the very least filtered water as that white stuff is mineral deposits so if your water is hard (full of minerals) this will happen over time.
@spicybeantofu Жыл бұрын
Yes I was always told to only use distilled

I was just looking at a pattern for that style of pants earlier this week, thinking of them as a summer pattern, but now that I see the winter version, I want to make both! it is completely brilliant that you were able to start with a bunch of IKEA blankets and wind up making something so pulled-together and elegant-looking. The front and collar of the top is genius, as is using the wrap style pants to get extra layers.
@irishaorlova74132 жыл бұрын
Well, here in Australia summer refuses to come, so I think your ideas are very timely;)

Ive bought fabrics and curtains and beddings from ikea and I made them into easy staple pieces and comfy clothes, like elastic waist pants and skirts, and the throw blankets are amazing for making scarves and capes. Making clothes out of IKEA textiles in general should be done more since they make some amazing prints and they look amazing as clothes

Hello Ariel!! I’m so glad I found your channel! You are highly entertaining and helpful! I recently retired as a seamstress and designer for others and am so happy to be able to make what I want! I’m off to cosplay with the little people in my life. I’m moving from Florida back home to Pennsylvania today!! I need to make the warm cozy things again. This is perfect and beautiful! I’ve saved my old flannel and wool for a coat. Thank you for sharing your makes and expertise! ❤🥰

I think I would just add an easy topstitched oversized pocket on the side of the top! That’s all it was missing for me 😄 My PJ’s that don’t have pockets drive me crazy because I always forget my phone when I walk around!! I have them all set aside with the plan to spend a rainy day putting pockets in them (à la Morgan Donner) but I just haven’t yet 😅
@stigyanblue14422 жыл бұрын
I used a couple cheap blankets to make a full length poncho! It's good to walk around the house, and I drape it over my top blanket as extra warmth. Yay, dual purpose items!

Love the cozy outfit, we are heading into summer now won’t see winter until The end of April/may so I’m looking at making outfits to suit the Aussie Outback heat waves we get during the long summers, already the days are getting hot and humid due to all the rain we have been getting. The draw back of some irons are the use of plastic to make them, when they start to crumble it can get into the water section and then through the holes, I had this happen with a cheap iron since then I bought a more expensive iron made mostly of stainless steel and aluminium this one is now over 15 years old and still going strong
@HazarielAtelier2 жыл бұрын
My issue exactly with this poor old iron 😅 Thank you and have a good time in Australia 💚
@chickadeeacres3864Ай бұрын
To avoid that calcium and lime build up in your new iron, use distilled water. If you have a dehumidifier, the bucket that collects water is very close to distilled.

@m.maclellan71472 жыл бұрын
@@HazarielAtelier there are many sewing machine repair videos on KZbin! I belong to a FB page about antique sewing machines (anything before 1970!) According to what others have said on that page, almost all repairs on these old machines are achievable by anyone ! As far as your iron - you may have "hard" water - that's lots of minerals ! That is causing the white stuff ! Check your new iron's instructions- some companies design them to use only tap water, or they MAY recommend Distilled water instead of tap. Here in the USA, you can get distilled water at a pharmacy.

Maricella: I feel the same way, nervous about ruining fabric. I have some old sheets I picked up at a thrift store that I use for experimental samples.
