Mine did explode, probably the loudest explosion I've ever heard. My neighbours called me to see if I was alright. My advice is, if possible please change your 1.5l coke/soda bottle at least once a month. My mistake was leaving it up to three months because it seemed to be okay. Please don't let my experience deter you from using DIY Co2 though. Just remember to change the bottles every once in a while.

I have used this type of system for years. The MOST important thing IMHO is to very accurately measure your ingredients. If you do that you will not run into over pressure situations. Also since the bottles vastly exceed the pressure ability of the tubing/connectors it is not really possible to over-pressure the bottles. I have had tubing hop off it's fitting on occasion and burn all my chemicals but there is almost no chance of the bottles bursting. In my area bottled CO2 is unworkable and I have used this method to great success.

@milanswoboda54574 жыл бұрын
IMO the chances of the bottles exploding are very slim however you could run into the issue of CO2 overdosing especially with smaller tank set-ups if the overpressure goes undetected for some time. One thing though, if there is overpressure it would be better to relieve the pressure on the citric acid reactant bottle (A) since relieving it on the baking soda reactor bottle (B) will push more citric acid into it which will be generating even more CO2 gas.

@rayrowley40133 жыл бұрын
If you turn it off it should be fine, but if you leave it running it may build pressure. That sounds weird but as the co2 leaves bottle B it creates a lower pressure which draws in acid from bottle A which reacts forming more co2. If you let out 1 ml of co2 (measured outside) you will draw in 1ml of acid. But that acid will react to form more co2 than was let out (the volume of the acid can create a greater volume of co2 because gas is less dense however in this situation it is forced into a smaller space increasing the pressure). Given the quantities involved, it is very unlikely you would be able to get the pressure needed to destroy the bottle unless it had some defect. And, as stated in the video, the tubing would pop before the bottle.
