Really really good video. You are very detailed and understand how this car was designed. The mechanics I met have no idea about these Pajero here in Canada, they suggested to replace parts that I figured were not faulty, so I decided to read the service manual and fixed things on my own. I had a central diff flashing light that was caused by a blown fuse that is also feeding the backup light circuit.

I got my Pajero Exceed 3.5L check by a garage for the engine light stays on after while the truck running. the scanner displayed the MAF sensor which needs to be replaced. However, a couple days later I come across this DIY procedure to exeperiment this diy procedure. I followed this procedure diy fault codes without scanner on my Pajero. the light flashed slowly and faster but i could not get a number of flashes, so bought a scanner. The scanner turns on when plugged into the port. However, the scanner reads and displays "Communication Error". I thought it would be an issue with the scanner i bought. I plugged in the scanner on the car of a friend it reads everything, which confirmed the scanner is not faulty. I took to the same garage, the mechanic connected to his same scanner and it says "Communication Error". Can someone please share if you had the same outcome after following the diy procedure and any advice? Thanking you so much in advance. I wondering where this DIY procedure damaged the communication part of obd port on my Pajero. The fuse is not damaged nor any fuse damaged. I thought the scanner would power up if no power in port. It scanns and displays " Communication error. It works well with other cars. No scanner reads faults on my car anymore??

Your Pajero uses Mutt protocol the scan tool you purchased would be using Obd2 protocol your scan tool can't read the pajero ecu ,Mutt is mitsubishi licenced protocol only they can read it , the plug in the pajero has an obd2 style connector and this is where a lot of confusion happens, it was fitted with this style connector as it had to have obd2 protocol fitted to be sold in the US market , since this model pajero obd2 became an industry standard .

Hi Mr pajero excellent post. I have a question my pajero mk3 runs perfectly in 2 wheel drive. As soon as I change to 4wd the green wheel lights in the cluster start flashing and the vehicle starts braking and cutting power. I am baffled as it only does it in 4wd and there are no codes registered. It is also Intermittent. Replaced with new transfer switches new vacuum solenoid and issue remains. I ruled out speed sensors cause logic tells you the fault should occur in 2wd also. But only occurs in 4wd. I believe it is electrical. I was hoping you could offer some guidance. Much appreciated.

Did you ever figure this out @MERChanics ? I got the exact same issue with my gen 4 Pajero from 2007
@merchanics56333 жыл бұрын
@@aio4x4 hi yes. I had no abs or traction lights permanently on so no code was stored. So back to basics. Only thing I noticed was when it did it 4 wheel drive the front left wheel would show as slipping on the speedometer. Had me really confused. I decided to resistance test the speed sensors from the transfer ecu. You can also resistance test from each wheel speed sensor. Cut a long story short front left speed sensor was out off spec it had high resistance. I cut the cable insulation back and noticed the wire had oxidised over time which caused the high resistance. I didn't have a replacement sensor so I replaced the full length off the cable and tested the resistance. Resistance was within spec. After that it never did it again. The only thing I can think is that the ecu is even more sensitive to wheel speeds in 4wd.good luck.

@@merchanics5633 Thanks, mate! I was suspecting the speed sensor as well. I will have either way a massive session with the car cleaning out the soot from the intake manifold, so will be doing the resistance test for the speed sensors as well to check them out. I appreciate your answer back!

great info mate...you know your stuff, straight forward, I've already replaced the solenoids and actuator and still have no 4wd and now i get the 4wd light quickly flash erratic on the dash driving in 2wd about 10% of the time i'm driving in my 2007 ML Triton Diesel (are these the same ??) will earth it out and check my codes before I start the huge task to replace the transfer switches...I'm glad I seen your vid...i will subscribe to find further info..thanks mate
