Good morning ! Definitely a must watch video. Im saving for future reference ! At my stage of collecting cleaned coin determination gives me the most difficulty. The biggest mistake I have made is believing what someone told me and bought rolls of Morgans, the majority of which had been cleaned. Still sticks in my craw....I'm learning.

Thank You, a wise man once said our heart is smarter than our brain, FOLLOW YOUR HEART AND YOUR BRAIN WILL SHOW YOU WHERE TO STEP NEXT. You have taught so many of us so much. The highest value many of us can offer is to say THANK YOU!

This is a great video Daniel❤ 👍 I’m starting to sell coins at craft fairs in my town of Lander, Wyoming and my state is definitely a blackhole about coins, pawn shops over price and don’t test the silver or gold with sigmas so you’d be gambling, that’s not fair to anyone stacking or collecting. I do love coins and collecting but helping others and educating them about this topic I love the most, I’ve learned a lot, got through the Machine doubling bias and been humbled a lot over the years and learning so much

Do a book on "cleaned coins" A well illustrated reference would sell. Currently the most difficult aspect of collecting or dealing.

I always say KNOW what you collect and or buy. I try and know everything I can about the coins that I collect. Cleaned coins is a BIG issue to learn about. Also learn from the people who know what they are doing and have the experience to teach you. That’s one of the reasons I watch your videos, Daniel.

Such good content - all the time… thanks Daniel. I have been collecting since I was a kid. I know enough to get by but I am always trying to get better. When I retire I might start doing some small shows and selling etc. Just as a hobby but to make a little money. Thanks

Cleaned/problem coins? I do not collect for grade. I collect for history. I really don't care if a coin is cleaned or problem. HOWEVER, I will pay what that coin is worth, not what a problem free coin is worth. But, I can determine if a coin is cleaned or other problems. People who "think" they know but don't makes me cringe. LEARN and you will do well.

Great video, counterfeits are growing problem, usually you can tell by scale , magnets, and die markers for key date coins, books as well, thanks Daniel 🎉

Thanks Daniel. While there is allot to consume when appraising coins, you can only consume one bite at a time. Work at it, folks need to use the resources you gave...and want to learn. I have bought some very small collections but nothing like what you have shared with us today.

I am new to the game, with a very fine collection, that has been out of circulation for 70 years or more. 🤔 I appreciate your insights, and am thinking of joining one of your groups. Thank you!

My advice is use this video to learn as much as you can or take your coins to have them appraised, then decide what you want to do.

I don't like getting emotional about coins. If it's for sale, then I'm not partial to it. "Let's make a deal!" However, when people ask to buy from my NFS book, I get upset. I usually tell them, "I won't be offended if you make any offer, but I'll likely decline it." Selling stuff can be tricky because buyers don't always know what you have, and aren't willing to pay what it's worth. You get a lot of inadvertent lowball offers on certain varieties when selling in person. Or sometimes they just like the coin and they don't care it's whatever variety. Frustrating, but that's the game. Selling online I better for niche stuff.

I feel that if you need to have your collection appraised then you are uninterested in doing the research on your stuff to find out on your own what your stuff is worth. Some are ok with having a coin shop to look at your coins and giving you an idea what you have, thats fine but there is so much info on just about anything tangible online you can DIY your collections.
@leechild465521 күн бұрын
to add: the DIY approach my not be a good thing if you are uneducated on coin conditions in general. Condition is everything when knowing what a coin is worth and an amature will probably not get it right doing it themself.

Use sold auctions and you will see YOU are wrong, coin collectors always pay less for a cleaned coin.

whenever i have to sell any of my collection, which is all graded slabbed problem free coins, i always get buggered. dealers always just look up greysheet values and offer 60% of that. literally the only people turning a profit in this hobby are the coin shop owners. if you’re an individual, you’ll always lose money and always be a sucker no matter how well informed you are.
@CoinHELPu21 күн бұрын
You sell it yourself if the convenience of selling it all at once to a coin dealer isn't the price you want. What you're talking about is not being well informed or not, but not wanting to go through the trouble and expense of selling the coins yourself.
