So cute! I actually had a cool art teacher in middle school that showed us how to build, paper machet and collage boxes for a project, and it was one of my favorite things we did. I wish I still had mine, I might try to re-create it. It was red and black themed with my chemical romance all over it in mismatched magazine letters. So fun. Thanks for reminding me that this is a really fun project medium! 😊

Omg that’s so cool!!! Growing up my mom did decoupage all the time (kinda similar?) and this comment made me remember I Also had a cool art teacher who got us to do a collage project (Our sketchbooks) back in like 9th Grade maybe. Fun! Im so glad this was inspiring/nostalgic, and good luck on the recreation / future projects ❤️🥰

I love the idea of the long-distance relationship memory box to keep letters in! I’m about 6 months into doing long distance since I moved to go to vet school and this idea would be so cute for us to both have a keepsake box with personal pictures and motifs that mean something to us. Thank you for always being such an inspiration ❤

!!! such fun timing!! I've been super into collages lately I bought a book thats like. top 100 cathedrals or something and i've been using it as. i think its called a glue book? basically just making each page into its own collage. its incredibly fun (though I base the colour palettes off the main pictures on the pages and since theyre all of cathedrals i am running low on pictures that are beige lmao) so its super fun to see how you do yours!

Here i come: *artist tip* ✨ If you are painting anything that is not very frail or delicate, you can buy gesso, which is a porous paint specifically made to prepare a ton of surfaces for later coats of paint, you can even make shiny plastic easier to paint over with it, and usually is a perfect white, ready and making easier for any colour to pop. It is expensive and sold in big packages, but really worth it if you make diy projects all the time or even for a living. I highly recommend it for hard surfaces, if you are gonna paint a flexible material like fabric or plush or whatever, try something more appropiate for the material. Other thing that might help keeping all the decoupage(the technique you used on this video) in place is clear coats of varnish or laca(dunno it's english name, sorry), but try not to use it in places where the lid and the box need to *fit* into one another, "encastrar" would be the word in spanish but i really don't know if in english there is a word for it tbh. As long as you keep the union intact, the varnish/laca should do wonders!! Buy it glossy if you wanna make it look like it came from a toy store, and mate if you want it to not make your eyes die everytime the sun points at it😂 And try light coats, thick ones might make the varnish dry in a white, sorta "milky" colour, and it looks horrible, saying it from experience here😂😂😂 Good luck with your projects y'all!!❤❤❤

21:28 Cigar boxes are great for this! I got a whole large bag of them once that a smoke shop was selling! Sometimes you can find smoke shops willing to sell them for cheap because otherwise they would be thrown away. It's worth asking if you have the chance!

i love the boxes! i haven't done that kind of stuff in ages, but now i'm eying my magazine pile . . . do you know of any magazines like Rookie Mag that are in the US and/or are still running? or zines that you would recommend! thanks :) (also i made some zines while watching this!)
@RattusRattus7 ай бұрын
Ahh that’s so cool that you make zines !!! Hm I would look for second hand rookie magazine year books (they’re these giant compilations of the year of articles and photos and stuff and you can often find them at book stores or sites like thrift books :-) For magazines I would mostly pilfer my parents old Nat Geos 😂 and any cheap ones I could find at the thrift store especially if they had Halloween themes , also rock music / tattoo ones, and my city used to circulate these great free alt newspapers I would take and cut pics from :-) For zines I liked this subscription box for a while! It’s called zine o matic, it’s still running and as far as I know , still good ! And of course, u can’t beat supporting your local scene ! I used to mostly get zines at campus / from fellow alt student and now I find similar posters n stuff at local punk shows :-) good luck and anyone with better advice feel free to pitch in!!!!❤️

I love using perfume ads from magazines as wall art/collage material. They're often very pretty pictures of flowers or models in pretty clothes/outfits.

what printer do you have ?
@RattusRattus7 ай бұрын
I don’t think it matters much! I’ve used printers at the library, at my old university (not sure the models, but they were clunky old things), and currently I borrow my boyfriends Pixma printer :-) but I think as long as you don’t use super thick gloopy layers of glue, your ink should be ok (and also make sure your paint is dry 😅 I think that’s why the back of the box with morticia / Elaine / Elvira is a bit streaky lol)
