What a fun bag. Honestly I was lost trying to figure out what kind of bag this ever shrinking long thing was going to look like. I just could not visualize it. Super way to use up fabric. Love the construction. Re the handles: I would put stabilizer inside the top hem, underneath the sewn ends where the handles are attached for added strength, especially as this sweet bag is made with lightweight cotton. Conversely, I can see this being made with a nice, rip-stop fabric as well. I have a couple of foldable, rip-stop bags that fit nicely into my purse. When needed, I toss them into the washing machine for a quick clean and hang dry. This little bag is a winner. Thanks.

Love this bag! The fabric is really bright and pretty! Do you think there might be a way to do a French seam on the ends instead of the binding?

I really liked seeing how you sewed this. I’ve been wanting to try and sew a foldable tote. I would love for you to show us a variation of this or something similar that folds and has longer handles to carry over the shoulder. Thank you.
@ChristinesHomeAffairs2 жыл бұрын
What you could do is, place a longer handle on the sides that span the length of the bag, and apply it in the same way. Then you'd have the extra length you need. I don't think it would work as a crossbody on a shorter bag though. Might be worth a try 😀😀
@alexlopez89222 жыл бұрын
I love the idea, since I use public transportation I need to have both hands free to be able to hold so do you think shoulder straps could be adapted to this bag? If so how would you do it? Thank you for this great idea

I think you'd be able to make longer straps Alex, and just leave a bigger opening. That way, they will still sit flat on the edge of your bag 😀

Such a great tutorial, thank you so much. Every step was explained so well, as a beginner i feel really confident i can actually do this. I’d like to turn the handles longer though, can i simply cut them longer and fasten them more to the side of the bag or would that be a bad idea (too much stress on the sides, slouching middle part)?
@ChristinesHomeAffairs Жыл бұрын
It won't hurt to have a longer handle at all. You can extend the length of it across the bag like normal. Attach it with the same stitching dimensions at the ends 😊

Christine, I have a quick question. I followed all of the measurements that you said, when I have all of my folds and place the elastic string and fold the bag in half and saw the ends I get 4" but you mentioned yours is 3 1/2", not sure what I did wrong. I went back and saw every step and it looks correct. I appreciate your help. Thank you
