I'm inclined to just say, "what they all said," but I do want to add my own note of thanks for your generosity in sharing this and so many other wonderful videos. On top of running a business and doing all that sewing, you somehow find/make time to produce and post these videos to inspire and teach others. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Christine

For us American folk: bag body is cut 18 x 37.5 inches, straps are 44" then cut in half, and the ribbon is approx 12" also cut in half. All are close estimates. Nice bag. Love the idea of using that fabric type.

Thank you Mary...I wished people who make there videos would use American measurements and not just there metric ones. It can't be that hard to convert for those of us who don't know the metric system... Another thing that would help is showing and telling where they get the tools they use and the sizes... That's why I love watching Oklaroots because she shows you everything you need before she starts her tutorials... If everyone would do that it would make it so much easier...So thank you for giving that information to us in American terms... No offense to Christine as I enjoy watching her make things, and just found her on youtube today... So please don't take any offense please!

I love those little flower head pins you used to put the ribbon on. Unfortunately, so does my cat, Buttercup. She has discovered: (a) The flower head is fabulously crunchy and (b) the pins go boing when you flick them with your paw. Buttercup has given the flower head pins a full 5 star rating on the "Things Cats Do To Pester Mum When She's Sewing" scale. Guess my bags will be minus a ribbon loop... 🐾

I think we should form a group called Fabricholics Anonymous. I am glad I am not alone in having more stash than time to sew it all. I went through all my fabric and I was brutal with myself. It’s so hard to part with any. I just sold 10 X-LARGE garbage bags full of fabric for a measly $280 for all of it, just to get it out of the house before I changed my mind. Mind you I kept most of the cotton fabric👍. I still have two large closets full and several more bins 🤪🤪

I am with you on that one Patricia. I have lots of patterns, ideas, and fabric, but not enough time to use it. I work full time and have 4 young grandchildren. Then a beautiful fabric catches my eye and bam, I have added to my 'collection', lol. I recently made 44 mug rugs to use up fabric and scraps, but it didn't make a huge dent. I'm trying :)

Good morning....! Ms Christine, your bag is so precious!!! and easy to make with your instrucions...I am from Central America, but live in U S A . My mom and aunt made this type of bags for sale back in the 1970's they sold them a brought income for the family. they made them the size of the fabric they had on hand. Central America had shortage of grocery bags, paper or plastic. now it is the Law not to use plastic bags for your groceries. Your bag is better made for durability. and your instructions are VERY CLEAR , and shown very well. I just subscribed to your channel, and hoping to see new tutorials , I know you will present them very well.......Would be nice to have metric to inches on the corner of your screen. , yes we have a conversion on the centimeter....no problem... the way you present it is fine. Greetings from Florida. US A Josefina Mccarty.

Been wanting to make some grocery bags. Tks for a wonderful refresher course. U are a blessing. I'll be watching so as to make some gifts for family. Love the doggie bags for outdoor activity. The dog obedience clubs frown on the hard plastic holders. They usually clunk the poor doggie on the face & top of their heads. Will be making some of those when u get around to demonstrating. My dogs dance on stage at various locations & performing arts centers. They will appreciate ur soft bags. Tk u. Love & appreciation from here in Florida, USA.

Very clear and concise. Thank you. Re: securing the handles, I've seen some where the handles are reinforced with an X shape, after they've been sewn on as you've demonstrated. Kind of stabilizing how the handles are positioned, it seems. Your way seems simpler but just as sturdy, though. (It may also prevent the webbing from fraying a little?) P.S. When you've taken the time to answer someone in comments, (thank you so much, because I read your answers to people and get lots of hints) - remember to click on the little *"thumbs up" symbol* under their question, so it notifies them you've answered (if they've got their own notification settings organized to let them know; for some time mine were in default "off" and didn't realize).
@ChristinesHomeAffairs
@ChristinesHomeAffairs 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kayenne. I usually do the 'thumbs up" I must have missed a few..... When I made bags on a small scale, I used to do the X to secure straps, and still do if I am making the handles myself. As I'm a nut for "time management" I found that triple stitching in two places was not only quicker, but much more secure.😁😁

That's great, Kristen. I'm in Minnesota and have wondered where I could buy affordable webbing in the US. Did you have a source for purchasing before your donation? I don't make the quantities you do, but want to make bags some for a charity craft sale. I have some pleated drapes I had made that I have cut down to repurpose. I may decide to make the handles from the same fabric to keep the cost low.

I just came across this channel. What a great Tutorial 👍. You reminded me so much of myself, I would do exactly how you stitches and just how you think, I do the same. Always thinking of the Customers and aiming to Please.. People always tells me I put too much into my work! I tell them I want money like anyone, but what I loved more is giving Quality Products. I don't sow that much now, but when I use to, Big Stores would want to buy from me, but want to give me nothing for High Quality Products, talking about Over Head lol 😆. I used to make Panties/ Bras / Clothes and many more. Now I am doing Cards / Beautiful Pieces like Home Decors etc. And again a Big Hit.. I Love your Quality for what you do and thinking of your Customers. Oh! And Quality work Always Speaks for itself. One person Buys, Tells some one or someone sees it and you don't even have to advertise.. Beautiful Tutorial 👍🙏❤

You are absolutely delightful to listen to and learn from. I just need to interpret the measurements to "American", but that shouldn't be too hard, and I am making this bag several times over. Thank you.

Thanks Cynthia. 1 yard x 1/2 yard will do for the fabric. Fold top edges x 1 inch. I'm mentioning both metric and imperial measurements in my videos now🤗

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I just found a good little sewing machine at a thrift store and figured that was the best way to go considering I don't know how to use one yet! Market bags were something I wanted to start with and your bags are gorgeous! I can't wait to learn to use my Necchi!

Ember, best wishes on your entry to sewing! The Necchi was my favorite machine back in the 70's .Made all my clothes and some for the kids too! Such a sturdy machine! Hope you have good use of it! Just one warning about sewing....its very addictive and you will find yourself constantly putting other chores aside in order to sew!!🤣🤣 Enjoy! Have fun! You'll never dream how creative you are!!🤩🤩

Great idea for fabric that might otherwise go to waste or landfill. Thinking a twin needle would save you a lot of time. 😊

Twin needle will give two rows at top but only one underneath. As it's furnishing fabric, I like it a bit more secure. Good idea for cotton fabric 😀

As a check out chick ( cashier operator) thank you for thinking of the small loops. So many bags are given to me to pack and most are just annoying to work with. Those loops or even a slit, large button hole, is so helpful. I’m timed on how fast I get the customers out. Fussing over bags annoy me lol

I make pretty much the same bag using feed sacks (it’s a woven plastic) I make the handles from that “fabric as well” they are very sturdy. I do French seams on the sides and double fold the top hem cuz it frays really bad. Also if something leaks or an egg breaks in the bag you just rinse it off. We have a few goats & chickens and that’s how I recycle the feed sacks. They have banned plastic shopping bags here in New Zealand & you have to pay for paper ones.

I would love your directions for a tablet bag but with 3 different attachments. 1-a regular handle to carry the tablet bag 2- a long strap to carry it as a shoulder bag 3- a wide strap across the middle of the back of the tablet bag so when I trolly my suitcase in the airport I can attach the tablet bag it to the long handle of my suitcase as I wheel the suitcase through the airport. Thank you!!!! PS hello from Texas, USA
