I have a feeling some people will complain about the fake heatsinks, but who cares? This build doesn't need the extra thermal performance and it's cool that they found a cheaper solution that looks good. Half the fun of building these partial enclosure itx pc's is the aesthetics. This is super cool!
@mxcbuilds6633
@mxcbuilds6633 2 жыл бұрын
Yes that's true. It works for a low end board because you won't be putting high powered components on it anyways. And high end boards already have all the shrouds/heatsinks. So I think it's a good solution :D

Those are the same people that the only thing they built is their resume to hire at mcdonalds. It looks amazing, hope that some day I would have the time and drive to do something similar.
@yearofthegarden

Lol I agree it's a quality build, the heatsinks are a form of fashion, similar to how people fancy up their cars. In reality adding plastic above a heat generating source is increasing a thermal barrier that would be beneficial I'd it were made of aluminum. It's fun to watch, the performance doesn't effect how good this build is
@MechAdv
@MechAdv Жыл бұрын
Plastic is a thermal insulator, if the “sinks” were just not helping, that would be one thing, but capping your memory with plastic actually hurts the thermals. That being said, who cares indeed.
@mxcbuilds6633
@mxcbuilds6633 Жыл бұрын
@@MechAdv Do you believe the Ram "heatsinks" that are placed only on the edge of the RAM PCB (not touching the chips at all) will hurt the cooling performance of the RAM?

because while it looks good it suffocates the system. This only works because there are no side panels and the main components are on the cheaper side. New processors (even lower end ones) need way better airflow.

After seening the very first 3d printed heat sink I was at a 0/10. (Edit I missed the large "copper" heat sink somehow and thought it was just a black cover. New rating 9/10 ❤️) Then the "copper" ram heatsinks came in and I was at a 10/10. After the I/O plate and the panel to hide the Motherboard Power cables I was at an 11/10. The GPU brought me all the way to a 12/10. Outstanding visual mods! 👍

I always wanted to build something similar .Why do we need huge cases with 4-6 fans, when everything can work in a smaller box with no fans at all (except the ones that comes with PSU.GPU and CPU) . My solution to you, make the case a bit bigger so you can use a full size PSU . Great job !

Have you considered reversing the cpu fan? The load temps don't look too great for a mere i3. I wonder if instead of pushing hot air towards restricted space, if it pulled the air through the gaps around and pushed the air outside, would the temps be better.

@mxcbuilds6633

Mainly because I didn't stain the hardwood frame (just applied 1 layer of wax) so it would have been hard to find a stain that will match the color exactly. And secondly I knew this PC would be hung up on my living room ceiling to use next to the projector so the rear panel will rarely be visible/noticeable

The power supply fan is upside down.... You have it pulling air out, which wouldn't be so much of a problem except that it's an open cabinet, so it's not really doing anything.

@@dopplerganger9750 the fake heatsink is not covering a M.2. Its placed over the chip set heatsink (this board does not have a full m.2 slot in that location, only a wifi card. I believe the PSU fan is in the correct orientation that pulls in air from the vents, accross the electrical components then exhausts it out the back. I take you point of the dust issue tho.
