I have a feeling some people will complain about the fake heatsinks, but who cares? This build doesn't need the extra thermal performance and it's cool that they found a cheaper solution that looks good. Half the fun of building these partial enclosure itx pc's is the aesthetics. This is super cool!
@mxcbuilds66332 жыл бұрын
Yes that's true. It works for a low end board because you won't be putting high powered components on it anyways. And high end boards already have all the shrouds/heatsinks. So I think it's a good solution :D

Those are the same people that the only thing they built is their resume to hire at mcdonalds. It looks amazing, hope that some day I would have the time and drive to do something similar.
@yearofthegarden2 жыл бұрын
Lol I agree it's a quality build, the heatsinks are a form of fashion, similar to how people fancy up their cars. In reality adding plastic above a heat generating source is increasing a thermal barrier that would be beneficial I'd it were made of aluminum. It's fun to watch, the performance doesn't effect how good this build is
@MechAdv Жыл бұрын
Plastic is a thermal insulator, if the “sinks” were just not helping, that would be one thing, but capping your memory with plastic actually hurts the thermals. That being said, who cares indeed.
@mxcbuilds6633 Жыл бұрын
@@MechAdv Do you believe the Ram "heatsinks" that are placed only on the edge of the RAM PCB (not touching the chips at all) will hurt the cooling performance of the RAM?

Mainly because I didn't stain the hardwood frame (just applied 1 layer of wax) so it would have been hard to find a stain that will match the color exactly. The power supply fan is upside down.... You have it pulling air out, which wouldn't be so much of a problem except that it's an open cabinet, so it's not really doing anything.
@dopplerganger9750 Жыл бұрын
@mxcbuilds6633 Жыл бұрын
@@dopplerganger9750 the fake heatsink is not covering a M.2. Its placed over the chip set heatsink (this board does not have a full m.2 slot in that location, only a wifi card.
