Amazing talent. Nice to see some wooden pc cases, I have been wanting to build my own for many years, Off the shelf cases are never 100% how you want them to be, Such as not enough cable management room or they lack 5 1/4 bay for Blu Ray drive etc etc. Instantly subscribed, I look forward to seeing your future projects and am now going to go back through your old videos, Hoping to see maybe a wooden NAS project, If not maybe it could be an idea for a future build.

Dang, I wish corporations would just give me components to build cool rigs.
@mxcbuilds66333 күн бұрын
It didn't start like this. I funded my first 2 builds on my own. They did well in terms of views and traffic. I then approached companies to collaborate on the third. First successful collaboration was with a mid-tier GPU (6600XT). Then it progressed from there. It's not as simple as brands 'giving' me components to do builds. If you'd like to follow a similar path, I'd suggest putting in the effort to make it happen. Rather than just 'wishing'

beautiful build, would buy one, but limint one's GPU AND CPU is a big nono for me! why would I BUY a 4090 then?
@mxcbuilds66333 күн бұрын
If you want ultimate performance, don't go small form factor. There will be a compromise. Although power limiting 4090 to 70% still gets 95% of its performance. And I don't think there's another card that can compare even at 95%.

Hi mate, well done on the build. It turned out really great! I enjoyed watching what you can do on a tight budget with simple tools and in a limited space. Just a silly question. Where did you get that foam to support the wood while cutting with the circular saw? Do they sell it in Bunnings? Cheers
@mxcbuilds66335 күн бұрын
Thanks! Yep, got it from there. It's called XPS foam. I got the 50mm thick one but the 30 should be fine as well

nothing against small form factor builds. i like them if done properly. just when it gets out of control i have to write something to prevent others from following down a dangerous path. 2 mistakes have been made. number 1: you usually dont use the most power-hungry components for a tiny build! (what you have created is an electric blower-style heater) number 2: you dont use an enclosure and motherboard-tray from a material that can light up and start a house-fire. that had to be mentioned. the combination of those 2 mistakes in a tiny build makes it dangerous. thats all.
@mxcbuilds66335 күн бұрын
Thank you for your input. My opinions below: 1. Many try to cram the most powerful components they can into the smallest volume possible. The whole SFF community is based on this philosophy. Yes it will run hot, and that's the challenge to find solutions to cool it appropriately. The heat generated from these components would be the same regardless if placed into a large case (would also 'blow out the same amount of heat') 2. Yes wood is flammable, yes it's higher risk than a conventional case. Anyone that tries to attempt this will do so at their own risk.
@1nicko295 күн бұрын
@@mxcbuilds6633 before the console-killer-systems hype there used to be a community for building tiny home-entertainment-systems with low-end or midrange components. often those systems were passively cooled to keep them absolutely quiet for the purpose of audiophile acoustic-enjoyment.
@1nicko295 күн бұрын
@@mxcbuilds6633 for highend hardware i still recommend high airflow enclosures(even with the use of radiators) the heat from each part will be kept better in check and under control with much more air moving through the system at the same time and space for large cooling solutions(water or aircooler alike).
@mxcbuilds66332 күн бұрын
Yes, your recommendation of having high-end hardware in larger cases to allow easier cooling is correct. It however does not make having high-end parts in SFF builds a 'mistake' as you mentioned in your first comment.
@1nicko292 күн бұрын
@@mxcbuilds6633 for a beginner system-builder it could be a mistake to choose a small enclosure for power-hungry hardware but not for enthusiast-builders of course. modern parts are able to do "thermal-throttle" if nessessary and everything can be software-controled and monitored. that makes it possible today. back in my days a system builder had to think hard about the right size case. looks and style were secondary.

I'm genuinely curious how the heat affects the wood in the long run. RTX4090 + i7 12700KF combo is hot af.

@mxcbuilds66334 күн бұрын
@@pauljoseph3081 I expect it not to do so well in a tropical environment. The change in humidity will cause the wood to warp alot. I will do a "1 year later" type video when its due.

@mxcbuilds66335 күн бұрын
Cleaning is not so bad, just disconnect all the cables, bring it outside, slide out glass panels, brush and shoot with some air, done. Coolant maintenance is going to be an issue I agree, I did not add any drain points. Would probably have to turn the PC upside down and drain it from the fill port.
