Inspiring as always. Just a simple tip, use a reciprocating saw without the blade on the form after pouring concrete to rid of all the bubbles. Works perfect every time.

Take a jig saw or reciprocating saw and remove the blade then place the base against the form and pull the trigger. This will give you better vibration for working the air bubbles up.

What a cool idea Bro! I'm building an outdoor grill stand and the countertop is going to be cement. First time I'll be using concrete. This video has me pumped to start the project.
@jonathanbullman70584 жыл бұрын
Also for cracks that appear I've found that if you rub dry cement into the cracks and fill them, then just wet your finger and rub the Crack and smooth it out the water will suck up into the cracks and fill them. It's mostly cosmetic and not structural

You are a true inspiration! Even though some of the things you use in your projects can't be bought here in Sweden, I really appreciate your work. Please keep it up, and well done! One note though: instead of poking through that foam, you could have just poured some acetone on it as it will melt styrofoam.

If you're using a fast setting cement add a little sugar a d it slows down how quickly the cement sets. Also use ice water instead of just cold water. Both will help lengthen set times

It wasn’t the imperfections that made it not come out. It was drawing a vacuum below the fittings due to the tight tolerances created. If you drilled a small hole at the bottom of it it probably would have come out easily.
@kathybirkett79864 жыл бұрын
Nice! When I was in the music industry, the studio where I worked redesigned my editing suite. They poured cement speaker stands that acoustically isolated the speakers from the building/floor. The difference in the sound of the same speakers before and after was amazing! So, your design will be acoustically isolated too, no matter what you set it on. If you have crappy speakers, they will "speak" in all their crappy glory! :-) However, good speakers benefit from this sort of design. Too bad about the crack, but an amazing design.

You have a shop - why vibrate the mold by hand? Place a jigsaw or reciprocating saw, without blade, up against the mold, and turn it on. A variable speed jigsaw is better, as you can spin the speed up and down while moving it across the sides of the mold.

The cracking is from shrinkage. Adding more water will only weaken the concrete. You shouldn't submerge concrete unless it's designed for underwater placement. To prevent cracks, you need more steel reinforcement near the outside surfaces.

Nice build, but have you treated the concrete surface or did I miss that? I am adviced to use soluble glass, but first sand all surfaces to remove "filth" from the concrete and that is said to float to the top or to the surface.
@PavelMatonin4 жыл бұрын
Coll speaker, but technically speaking, you should avoid putting wax on the mesh, because concrete has to contact a reinforcement directly.
@noreaction14 жыл бұрын
You need a hole for air to move in and out of behind the speaker if you want more bass
@DIYCreators4 жыл бұрын

@noreaction14 жыл бұрын
DIY Creators there is also the issue of phase alignment, you gotta make sure the air comes out of the back at the same time the cone pushes out, which can be done by making the volume different, there’s a lot to consider to make speakers sound good
