Much easier to spend $2 on a rubber ball and just cut a hole in the top, add concrete mix, insert tube, let dry 24 hrs and voila remove rubber ball from concrete and your done. Just add pump and water tubing!!! Super easy!

I'm not sure how the rubber ball would maintain its shape with the weight of the concrete but worth a try!

Great tutorial, I’ll have to give a try! Thank you!!

Just a quick tip if you dont want larger aggregate, use a non shrink grout mix insted of a concrete mix. You can also mix in a pigment if you want to color it.

I used a video I found on KZbin from Lowe's. They used a glass light globe and filled it with concrete with a piece of 1/2" PVC pipe in the middle. When the concrete dries, you just have to break off the glass. That part is a little tricky, but it came out textured. I've had the concrete globes for about two years.

I've done that for planters and it works! The glass globes are quite a bit smaller I'd imagine but no reason this won't work!

I have a few glass globes of different sizes and am ready to do this. I hope to attract hummingbirds to my garden. I saw a video showing them sitting on a ball fountain taking a bath cleaning nectar off 😊 I may add color into concrete mix as well. Do you and enjoy!

Applying concrete stain is a great way to resolve colour differences in unfinished concrete.

Interested in making this fountain and adding a solar garden spotlight on the orb for evenings on the patio would be lovely.

Next time make it hollow. It doesn’t need to be solid , which is heavy. Great project. I plan on making a giant one but I want to finish it with some kind of color.

cool! I actually like the two different size hemispheres. Might make a cool visual to have about a 2 inch lip at the middle!

Would a beach ball work?? Would be lite?? Curious 🧐 U could actually leave an opening in the bottom for the pump!! I’m wanting to try it and put in a old satellite 📡 dish!!
@AtCharlottesHouse3 жыл бұрын
I've never tried that but I'd worry that it wouldn't hold it's spherical shape with the weight of the concrete. Worth an experiment maybe!

Yes a rubber ball works great too!! I sprayed rocks with clear acrylic as well.

@maxquigley95243 жыл бұрын
Just fill a cheap balloon type ball with concrete, that is if you want a solid sphere. Throw the ball away or reuse it by duct taping the cuts.
@sdowning5333 жыл бұрын
@@maxquigley9524 Thanks I went with the expensive option and purchases some outdoor light globes.

A $2 rubber ball from Walmart. Just cut a hole in the top to pour in concrete and add a dowel or PVC pipe iafter through the hole to the bottom...I think you can get the idea..after 24 hours cut the rubber ball off concrete. Super easy and cheap..
