Thanks. First vid of an "outside" corner clamp device I see. I knew I was not crazy when I tought about it. Specially to build some small cabinet or shelves that doesn't allow to use corner clamps on the inside

I have probably already commented on this video, but the counter sink you used is becoming the best tool I have. I was constantly breaking the other style with the little drill bit. I do alot of counter sinking and it is a great tool.
@TheNewbieWoodworker5 жыл бұрын
Good to hear and no, you haven't mentioned it before. I recently broke the smaller countersink bit (user error, not product error). I discovered that they sell a replacement bit! I bought it and it works great. So yes, I'm a fan. Especially since I've never, not once, had the countersink sleeve slip. It happened all the time with the ones I used to use. Thanks for the comment! 😄

This will help me immensely when I build my project(s). +1 for including the metric measurements as well as inches. Dan I think you cornered one of the more simpler corner clamps for someone to build. I will support you, 36 pages that is a lot details and work just to put that together. Thanks I printed a corner clamp on my 3 D printer it works but it has no strength it is good concept however it does better job of looking cool knowing it was printed. Now Yours it is meant to work in the real world. I built some others that a KZbinr In SC designed using wedges those work pretty good too. I like how simple yours are and simple is hard to beat.

Thanks! And yes, it was a lot of work putting the plans together. Not sure it was worth it, but we'll see. And if I had something I built with a 3D printer like you, I think the coolness factor would be pretty high. 😄

Hi Dan! A good way to stop your parts from moving when gluing them is to sprinkle a tiny amount of salt between them. That provides enough friction to stop the parts from moving while you clamp them.
@TheNewbieWoodworker6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I tried that once, and it didn't work for me. Not sure why - I might have been using too much glue... I'll try it again next time. Thanks again!
@martinedelius6 жыл бұрын
@@TheNewbieWoodworker - I don't really know the correct ratio but that could be the reason, yeah. I once tried with fine sand but that was too much friction and made it hard to adjust the pieces when clamping.

Great video... Heading to the shop to build them now... Next time do you have an issue with exact size pieces staying aligned when blowing them up after applying the glue did the pieces sprinkle salt on that surface area there and then when you clamp them together they won't slide

Thanks! Your last sentence was kind of long, and I'm not sure if you had questions, or advice, or both. 😄

@@TheNewbieWoodworker no question... LoL what I was trying to say is... Next time you are lam glueing 2 surfaces and have trouble with the pieces sliding around under clamping pressure. Before you also them together sprinkle salt on the glued surface and then they won't slide around under the pressure of the clamps. Sorry about my last attempt to explain that.... I used talk to text and it doesn't punctuate LoL

Hey Dan, great video and I will want to buy the plans but quick question. What is the tallest measurement of wood that could go in the full size clamps? For example if I am doing cabinets. Also, I saw someone mention it....would these not work if I am using pocket holes? Thanks brother and keep up the great work. As others have mentioned, I really like the level of detail you go into.
@TheNewbieWoodworker5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'm not sure how tall they will support, but I just used them for a cabinet in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npKcf2SKepdrbpY. But you could also add a clamp to the other side, or even use these clamps from Rockler: www.rockler.com/rockler-clamp-it-clips-4-packs. They're pretty new. As for pocket holes, the current design won't support them. But I'm sure it could be modified. And if you do modify it, let me know. I'm sure others would be interested also. Another option is to make something like these: amzn.to/2OdJQBZ. I say "make" because these look almost exactly like something I made a while back (never made a video, though). The options are kind of endless. If you want to swap ideas, you can email me directly from the Menu on my website, thenewbiewoodworker.com/.
