I love your channel!! Just scrolling through and being a pro cornhole player this vid caught my eye. Just a suggestion from my experience on playing different styles of boards 3/4” for the top. Most professional boards use birch. And some bracing for the back provides some more rigidity along with 3/4” plywood. This will prevent your boards from bouncing when the bag lands. Especially when playing on hard surfaces like concrete or pavement. 1/4” round over on corners and edges will save your bags ( @$90 a set for good bags) from snags and tares

Just a couple tips to help with the vinyl if you ever use it again. Pull it at a really sharp angle almost laying back down on top of itself as you pull it comes off easier. Also if you get it without the transfer paper regular masking tape works a lot better it is sticky enough to pull the backing off but not so sticky it rips the vinyl loose from the workpiece.

Great lookin boards! Love the new logos. I'm making a set right now from birch ply and thermo modified poplar, i did the same rabbet method to inset the top. I also used the rabbet offcuts to do an inlay in the top. Then an oil finish to make em pop. These are going to be for an ALS fundraiser so I really want them to turn heads and open wallets 😁

Oh definitely! Most of the ones I see are butt-joined 2x4 with the ply on top. The ones we currently have (one of my first bigger builds last year) were that, but mitered corners. This is a HUGE step up from that!

@@MrJdwilliams3 as my shop teacher always said, make the mistake you know you can fix. In this case size the lumber a hair wider than your finished dimension then cut your rabbet the same amount deeper as you oversized your lumber. That way when finished you can use a flush trim bit and have a perfect flush top.

I would suggest using self locking nuts with the nylon ring, less chance of becoming loose. Great project.

Brad and John, just FYI there are printer companies that have the ability to "paint" directly to the wood. Just create the design and send them the file. An alternative to using vinyl stickers. Great corn hole boards. I bet John cheats at corn hole. lol

Only bad thing with these style boards is the bounce you get in the middle of the board and hole. Also i've seen multiple brad nails start to back out on designs where the top is brad nailed into place without any other type of fastener attaching it.

Wow so many folks in the comments going "Durr, no plan/ cut list. How make boards? I so lost." How do you folks function around tools and a shop environment without any critical thinking/ problem solving skills? A quick interweb search will give you all regualtion cornhole board measurements and from there it's just a handful of basic math to fill in the blanks. There's no reason any adult should have their hand held through such a simple process.
