DIY Cup Turners. In this video i show you the steps i took to build this 4 cup rotisserie turner. I milled this lumber from a log of Eastern Red Cedar, then cut the lumber to size with the miter saw, ran the pieces through the thickness planer, ripped the pieces to size on the bandsaw, drilled holes for the motors, drying rack holes, cut electrical box holes, installed electrical boxes, ran electrical wire to each box, wired switches, I made TYC motor to PVC adapter plugs on the lathe, and put it all together. If you have any questions post a comment below.

Nice choice of wood to use...For the first timers it would be helpful if you specifically showed and explain how to connect the electrical wiring to the switches.

Damn, that is absolutely gorgeous. I love the look of that wood. It's something I've always wanted to learn but have never had the opportunity. I don't think I could use it for cup turning it just looks way too nice to get resin and paint on it. Beautiful work!!

How do you connect to the brass connections of the motor to the pvc chuck?
@WillowsWorldofDIY

I turned some wood plugs on the lathe that the brass connectors press into and also press into the PVC pipe. They sell coupling connectors on Amazon. I posted a link in the description of this video. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

Im wanting to build a 6 cup turner, and im not very savy with measurements, for a 6 cup turner what would the measurements be for the lumber do you think?
@WillowsWorldofDIY
@WillowsWorldofDIY 3 жыл бұрын
It would be 6ft(72") wide for a 6 cup turner with the same layout as the one in this video. Here is the measurements you need to build a 6 cup turner. 1 - 7" x 72" x 1-1/2" (back piece) 1 - 7" x 72" x 1" (front piece) 1 - 5" x 72" x 3/4" (top piece) 4 - 9" x 12" x 1-1/4" (bottom pieces) 4 - 4" x 5-1/2" x 1-1/4" (pipe rest pieces) I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

Thanks so much for this. I am building a six cup turner and have had little luck in finding anyone that lists complete measurements and parts. Now I think I can adjust for my needs. Thanks again, this was perfect :)

How much would you charge to make one of these for me. LOL. Seriously though.

Hi Elizabeth, I'm flattered that you would like me to build a cup turner for you. I'm not really sure what to charge. I built this for my girlfriend, her dad gave me the wood for free and let me use his tools. I think it would probably cost a lot to ship and I would have to build a crate to ship it in. If you are serious about it I will ask my girlfriends dad how much he will charge me for the wood and to use his tools so I can estimate a price for you. Thanks for watching

Is there a plug for each motor for the outlet? I only saw you wire one plug.
@WillowsWorldofDIY
@WillowsWorldofDIY 4 жыл бұрын
I only wired 1 plug for all 4 motors. I ran 2 jump wires from the electrical junction box that I wired the plug into and ran those 2 jump wires over to the 2nd electrical box and then 2 jump wires from the 2nd electrical junction box to the 3rd and then 2 jump wires from the 3rd to the 4th electrical box. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

Have you had any problems with the motor getting to hot been flush with the wood
@WillowsWorldofDIY
@WillowsWorldofDIY 4 жыл бұрын
The motors do get hot to the touch, but not hot enough to burn you. There is a 1/16" air gap all the way around the motors so they aren't touching the wood except for the 2 mounting points. The wood around the motors doesn't get hot at all and I don't feel any heat coming from the box or out of the vent holes or above the switches on the sides. So the motors do get hot, but I don't think they get to hot and I haven't had any motor failures. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!
