hey guys!!! i washed this shirt and the cut-outs do not keep fraying. it looks pretty nice still :) only part that was fraying a little was down the button holes. but around the shoulders and sweetheart it looked fine still! every shirt is different but i just wanted to let you guys know what happened to mine when i washed it without fray check or doing anything to it! good luck and don't be afraid to try things out :)

That is ADORABLE!!! SUPER Cute! Making one of these tomorrow and can't wait! Yes I was wondering what happened around the top when you washed it so I'm glad you posted that for us! Actually I think a little fraying will just make it even cuter!! :) Subbed ur channel for sure! Thanks so much! :)

bias seam binding for each opening would finish the edges and take it from homemade to couture without that much extra effort. I LOVE the top and will do a vid in response. Can't wait. I will be sure to credit you and link to your video. :) You have awesome ideas.

don't make the line so curvy. if its too much of a curve, it will flop down. just a slight curve will work! :)
@estellafaye33918 жыл бұрын
another thing you could do if you're worried about fraying is zigzag stitch (or use a serger) over the edges in a similar colored thread :)
@CrystalMuse558 жыл бұрын
Hi there April! I was wondering about the new "neckline" - when you cut it out in this video, I assumed you would serge and hem it to prevent fraying. Is that not necessary with the fabric you used, or for some other reason? Also, I ADORE your thrifted transformations and DIY videos. It's helped me learn to not be afraid of sewing, and I'm planning on tackling my own sewing project as soon as I can find a good piece to practice on. Keep doing you, girl! 😘
@ScarletHeather768 жыл бұрын
Same here. What about fraying?
@kali39668 жыл бұрын
if your material does fray you could always just put fray check or fabric glue around the edges, the way the cuts are done would probably make hemming them kinda difficult :)

This is so cute! Such a creative idea, is it possible to cover up the open spaces with something like lace? I think it would look really pretty! Great job on this tutorial! ;3
@Booxeen10 жыл бұрын
Yes you could cover it up with lace, but then you would need to sew! :) And covering it up with a delicate cute lace would solve the problem of it fraying. I wanted to do this, but first of all I don't like my shoulders, and the fraying did worry me, but thank you for commenting this to give me that idea! ^o^
