Material: You can use copper, brass, or gold-filled wires if you'd like. You could also use aluminum for practice, but I don't recommend it, as it's very soft and aluminum can be absorbed through the skin. I only use it for practice with gloves and for demonstration purposes.

How fun excited to try this one or something very similar-do you recommend the thicker gauge wire for this particular ring or do you think thinner gauge like 18 gauge would work well also?

The wire must have good stability so that it is not easily hidden when worn. Just try it out, the hammering also makes it a bit more stable.

What type and gauge of wire and inches for what size?

I'm not familiar with inches; here in Europe, we use the metric system. The ring size here is 58, and the thickness of the wire is 2mm coated aluminum.
