You're the first person that actually managed to convince me of the need to use a Water Spot Remover, through your demonstration.

😭😭. I was in denial myself until one day I coated this Nissan Maxima that I “polished out the water spots” looked great it was a black car and the owner left it in his garage for 2 weeks. He had another daily he miss understood me of saying don’t drive the car for 2 weeks. He comes back takes the car out in the sun and water spots were practically back. That’s when I learned the hard way. Now I overly use water spot remover but it’s cheap insurance. Than having to correct and record a car again 👍

Im brand new to paint correction,but I been into detailing for most of my life and this weekend Ill be doing my first complete correction on my 2016 SS Camaro. I began building my inventory of detailing supplies and already bought my compound/polish when I discovered the Gold Standard and rinseless wash products. I bought a waterless wash locally but not DIY brand and with all the stuff Im hearing about the Gold Standard I regret not buying it. My camaro has a beautiful Garnet Red tintcoat, but I feel like the previous owner used a lot of automatic car washes because it has a ton of swirls and some minor scratches. If you ever have time I have a few questions before I tackle this correction,but most of it is in regards to the process more than the brands. Either way, excellent work and the Gold Standard/rinseless wash products are 🔥

That All Clean @ 13:1 looks promising as heck! I’ve been wanting to find a good APC to compete with Optimum’s Power Clean for strength, dilution, and personal/environmental safety. The fact that you can use it at such a dilution makes the $50/gallon price of All Clean less troublesome.
@DetailingMadeSimple
@DetailingMadeSimple Жыл бұрын
Hey Stephen! Yes I use to use power clean as well! My draw back is the dilution. I had it 3:1 and you use a lot of the product. Compared to this one I’m saving more money on the long run! Cleans super well. Definitely less caustic with the fumes and spray back of All Clean compared to Power Clean. So far I really enjoy all clean. 3D orange degreaser is great too! Biodegradable and safe for the user just the dilution ratio I have to use a lot more of it. Hope this helps you out 💪

For this detail and car alone. Yes I only used the diy detail product line. This only took my wife and I 4 hours to do this whole job. We started this vehicle at 3pm. The whole prep, Decon, and drying took me and my wife 1hr and a half to do and that's with recording. If you check out my KZbin shorts I was supposed to do a live with the crowd. I wanted to experience the polish with all of you! I did not open or use it. I was able to go live at 7pm because YT was being a pain. I did a live talking about it with slight demos and techniques for 2 hours on the hood. My wife and I started again of course at 9:30pm did the whole vehicle in two hours. Compound/polish and ceramic coat the whole vehicle. 👍 Hope this helps and no offense taken we are all here to learn! Appreciate you watching. Check out the live to see how the paint was and again we doing "a one step" skim through to 33:30 and see what I did there. Or maybe you have a different approach that can help me 💪

#DIYDetail Gold Standard Is the waffle pad harder to use than the standard “flat pad”?
@DetailingMadeSimple
@DetailingMadeSimple Жыл бұрын

Hey Shane. I completely read the question wrong 😭. No the waffle pads are actually much more user friendly and easier to use! That’s all I use mainly are waffle pads. If needed wool or microfiber for more cut. Waffle Pads stall less, run cooler and less grabby on the paint which ties into the polisher vibrating a lot more than flat pads on a DA Than a “Flat Pad”.

Curious if you also polished the headlights/taillights? Or just hit them with the clay towel?
@DetailingMadeSimple
@DetailingMadeSimple Жыл бұрын
Yes the headlights and taillights were polished only. Not compounded and polish no need to go too aggressive it removes about 50% of swirls and scratches on them and also made them much brighter and vibrant looking.
@BigBear--
@BigBear-- Жыл бұрын
@@DetailingMadeSimple if you do polish them, often that can start to remove the protective UV coating they have from factory. I HIGHLY recommend you look into using a spray product called Plexus. It was originally designed to clean airplane windshields/windows to maintain clear visibility. That stuff works as a cleaner, fine polish, and protection for plastic visors, windshields, visors, headlights, etc. This way the plastic never fades, or oxidizes, and stays clean and clear.
@BigBear--

@@BigBear-- that’s great to know 👊. I never polish headlights to perfection just a light pass. The UV clear on the headlights are just as thick as the paint one. Just plastic is fragile and expands and contracts easily under immense heat or cold. I will take a look at that product

@@DetailingMadeSimple It ain't cheap, but it'll maintain the crisp clarity of headlights/tailights/windscreens/visors, for years to come. Sorry to beat a dead horse, just not many people know about it, and they should, it's that good. And no...I don't work for Plexus! 🤣

@@DetailingMadeSimple ok and one more question. When working panel by panel, do you have to dry the overspray from the last panel or can you use it wet?
@DetailingMadeSimple
@DetailingMadeSimple Жыл бұрын
@@ethanblan435 don’t have to dry the panel just flush out the water spot remover and continue around. Until done. If ssome water spots ford and is on the paint work no worries!!! It’s in its infancy stage. When you move straight to polishing process the will be removed. Because the water spot chemicals are not embedded in the clear coat. So they run right off. Hope this helps. This is after using waterspot remover to then polish. For panel by panel without polishing. I recommend just drying the panel after 2 2 panels if it’s on a hot surface and make sure you flush/clean out any adjacent panels until done. Yes it will take longer but it’s easy. You don’t have to use waterspot remover in every wash either. Hope this helps bro 👊.

Hey soc, If your using the LC pad washer and doing a 2 step correction. Whats the minimum amount of pads for compounding and polishing? How many pads would you use without a pad washer for a 2 step? I hear people using 6ish for each step so 12 pads to do a whole car. I have pads but not a shit ton of em so I was hoping that with the padwasher I could get away with 4 for each step. Thanks in advance.

Hey John. With a pad washer you can literally use 2 pads total if you want! 1 pad for cutting and the second for polishing. When my wife and I polish a vehicle that’s all we use 1 pad each one for cutting and one for polishing. The pad washer works great for drying/damping the pads if you have a rotary, 15mm da or a 21mm da even for your small pads as well if using a 3 inch polisher da if you have high opms. Hope this helps!! As for forced rotation it sucks with the pad washer 👎

I am about to attempt a 2 stage correction on my black Gmc Sierra and was just collecting my arsenal and am ready to go just wanted to confirm that before I started otherwise I was going to get more of each of the pads. I just wanted to have an array of different systems. I have all of there compounds and polishes aswell. So when I started my test spot I would have everything I needed to do a good job without having to stop and order more stuff yea know. Thanks for the videos man. I am confident enough to start now!! I ended up grabbing a rupes 15mm mark 3 5in and a griots g13 13mm 3in I also got the clay towel from diy and the gold standard polish aswell. Im sure it will need a 2 step but would you suggest I start with the diy wool or a microfiber or a foam pad to see what I actually need in my test spot? Any advice is appreciated!! Also thanks for all the badass videos man.

How or what do you use to start your test spot to see what the vehicle needs? Theres swirls and its black so shows everything. I might be surprised of what a foam pad would do, I just figured it would take a microfiber to get the swirls out but im not sure. I usually work on gelcoat and its different than paint. Not the process but its way harder and thicker. This will be my first vehicle so I am doing my own obviously. wool is probably to much cut ya think? Let me hear your process and what yea think I should start please and thankyou.

@@johnlanore599 sure I can help you out! As for the rupes mark III have you just purchased it? And has never been used? I’m in the process of selling mines for 250$ only been used 10 times tops! Outside looks a tad bit rough but that’s because I used to lay them on the floor when I did mobile jobs. As for the test spot. All paints are different you have hard clear coats. Medium or. Soft clear coats. I would suggest for example depending what compound and polish you have. Try out first compound with a medium cut pad like a diy detail waffle pad. Or lake country orange or griots orange pad. See how much cut you get. If it’s cuts crazy good after 3-4 section passes you know the paint is soft if it barely does anything it’s hard. If you get medium correction wells it’s medium clear. Then from there decide whether you want to step up to the wool pad. And do the same 3-4 passes on a different part of the hood. See the correction capabilities from there! Whatever is left over is left over! It can be refined with the polish step for gloss and depth of the paint. Don’t go for perfection!! you are used to gel coats so you know they add a bunch of coats on boats!!! Clear coat is different on cars! Hope this helps!! Just get used to one compound/polish use what system works for you. 💪💪 I only have 2 polishes in my business the last cut for my heavy compound and the gold standard to for my majority of the jobs!

@@DetailingMadeSimple Shoot I woulda got that from you but yea I bought the rupes kit a few months ago brand new. Yea I went a tad over bored and just got the 250ml bottles of 6 diff compounds n polishes. Going forward Ill stick with a few after I see what works good for me. I appreciate the info man. Do you like the microfiber and only use wool if its super swirled out? In your opinion is Gmc Black hard, medium, or soft? Thats what ill be working on. Yea I want it good but yea it doesnt need to be perfect 75% plus is good with me I just want most the swirls and add some gloss to her!!

How do you rinse out the clay towel when using it with iron remover? Do you shake it in the rinseless bucket or do you do another way? Awesome video!

Thank you my brother. I just dunk it in the rinse bucket that has some soap swish it in there and just use the garden hose to rinse everything out and just hang dry away from the sun. That’s about it nothing to it
