At 5:46 when gluing the card to the old cover, that would have been the perfect time to sandwich a loop of elastic into the back cover, big enough to wrap around the notebook in true bullet journal fashion! Black elastic is very easy to buy from any fabric store, so that should be easy to find. Also, a pen loop might be handy to add to the edge, sized to fit whatever pens you prefer to use most.

The first two are my favorite. Love the idea of using the wall stickers to redo an unattractive notebook. I got some steno notebooks (tall skinny) from online that I want to decorate and your idea of putting rubber bands around and maybe clamp them while taking the spiral binding out is so much simpler. Plus using the thumbtack. Thanks for all your ideas (love the bag and the folder ideas too).
@summerli59676 жыл бұрын
actual beautiful journals that are true diys and are actually cheap. a lot of diys say they're cost friendly but usually aren't when it comes to tools and extras that most people don't have. not only that, the end result is gorgeous. thank you for this video

What great ideas! Using the shopping bag as a cover for composition books is wonderful. I also liked how you made a traveler's notebook from a placement and pre-made notebooks. You are always so inventive. Thanks!

Gemstones cover! I really like the idea of using a placemat for a cover! I also love the idea of using cards as cardstock. I had thought of that myself, but had forgotten that the dollar store has cheap cards! I haven't gotten supplies yet, so perhaps a thumb tack will be all I'll need for making holes. This was my first of your videos ever seen, but I subscribed. I totally want to make a bag slip cover! I have a reusable bag I do not trust to carry things anymore, but I could use it for a book cover. I believe that will be the first thing I do from this tutorial. Thank you so much!

Your tutorials were mentioned in Reddit so I came to check them out. So glad I did! I love your videos, this one particularly because the ideas are so creative and yet so simple! My favourite idea is the one using wall stickers for the cover, the notebook looks amazing! I also like how the stickers can be re-positioned and how it will reinforce the cover due to the sturdy nature of the wall sticker. Currently I'm loving my own modified version of Midori binding. The two key differences are: (1) I just wrap a rubber band at the spine without the need to go through holes, cutting and then tying them back. I like it because it's simple to do and won't make the middle pages bulky. This does require a strong spine/cover though depending on the type of rubber band used. (2) My signatures are loose leaf. This way the pages can be replaced and rearranged freely. Personally I don't like bulky heavy notebooks so used up pages can just be removed. My favourite notebook is an A6 sized one for work. A6 is just an A4 paper cut in half and then folded in the middle. With my method, all I need to do is cut paper in half, fold it then insert them into my DIY notebook. Done! I love the semi permanent nature of it :D

I love this! I used a dollar store place mat to create a Midori-style cover for my bullet journals a few months ago. I ended up covering the cover in a Star Wars themed cloth because I didn't like the place mat, but it turned out wonderful. I used it for a couple months and then stopped using my bullet journal. When I get back into the habit of using my bullet journal, I'll use it again. Wonderful video.

Great video! I used to do my school book slip covers just like that as a kid to protect the actual book covers since we had to turn the books at the end of the year as best as possible to not get charged for the them. This saved my mom so much money since back home there are no lockers in publics schools so we had to haul this monster books back and forth every single day! I just used a thick solid color paper that they used to sell at school supplies back then (just for that purpose) and instead of glue I would just fold the bottom and top inward (sandwich between the book and the "front" or back "side of the paper) and make the whole cover in less than a minute for less than a 1$. This brought back memories and nostalgia for the back-to-school anticipation feeling!! And also relief that I don't have to carry almost 10lb of books daily anymore! LOL

I like how each of these DIYs only needed a few items. I feel like most of the dollar store DIY videos I've seen start off with buying half the damn store! 😆 Which *completely* defeats the point. And then what they end up making is often flimsy or isn't practical. Thanks for showing awesome DIYs that are actually accessable to people who are on a smaller budget 😊

The waterproof bag cover gave me an idea. Leave an inch or two of the cover on bottom, top, and open end for wrapping around the journal. Glue velcro to the journal and flaps to hold them in place and you have a completely waterproof the journal. The corners where they fold can be cut to fit better but I recommend leaving some of the corner uncut to fold over the journal for the best protection.
