Welcome to the channel @@IsraelCruz4SenateWebsite Structurally alone - no. Building a concrete home on top of a wooden structure is not something I would recommend nor consider due to weight alone. In addition, if a disaster was to happen like earthquake or fire for example - the bottom portion would collapse alowing the top part to come down. Build it right from the scratch.

If the structure is or less than 200 sq. Ft. (5’ 11”) diameter there is no need for a building permit. I like the idea of placing small domes in a circle around a center area which could be a protected area for a kitchen garden. Covering a passageway from one to another without connecting them to stay below 200 sq.ft each. A large skylight could also ventilate a central circular fireplace/stove for heat although solar heating would be better using solar windows on a straight vertical below the dome as pictured behind you. I have 48 acres but the area is not ideal so still searching for a better site.

I'm pretty sure this video is in answer to me emailing last week about a structural engineer to work with on a home design! I just dropped $16,000 on foundation and floor repair on a 700 square foot house, only to have the plumber come in and uncover rotten walls. When I then opened the exterior walls to check them I found the house is uninsulated, has no weather proof cladding and holes through the siding. So I'm looking at $50,000+ still to go. Now considering ditching the entire house and building with your style, hence why I emailed you about a structural engineer to work with! I would LOVE to partner with you on building a repeatable concrete/aircrete house!

@AircreteHarry You should also check foreign aircrete systems, i.e. Xella YTONG is a major brand in Europe. This material is main stream material for many decades, there's much experience. And today "all" the new houses around here are aircrete (called porocrete here, which is short for "porous concrete"). You can get a lot of inspiration and sometimes avoiding reinventing a wheel, like with electrical cables and plumbing, I think. I wish you a lot of success with aircrete and domes!

As for electrical and plumbing, normally it's done after the aircrete structure is built. You use a circular saw with two blades ("slot saw") to cut slots about an inch deep (more for plumbing) and lay the cables in protective tube or plumbing tubes inside and finally close them with a cement mix. Im sure there are videos on KZbin about that. It's done like that in Erope for decades, aircrete is used well over 50 years and is actually number one building material in many countries. And he reason are the great properties of the material, like good insulation values, great shaping possibilities, super fast work, etc. So most, if not all, what Harry says about the material is true

Fun fact about slot saw: Yesterday a colleague who's building a house extension told me he wasn't happy with a cheap slot saw he had, due to how much dust it makes, bypassing dust suction. He bought an "aircrete chain" for a chain saw and he said it produces much less dust and is even significantly faster. Learning every day 😃

Harry--- This was the most informative home-building design video I have ever seen. You have thought of a lot of designs that I have wanted. I have always wanted a dome-home but didnt know where to start or who to contact to get one started. Now I do. I like the passive geothermal idea for cooling in a Florida or Southern Texas climate which are my 2 retirement option areas. I have spent enough brutal Winters up here in the North. I'm over it. I like the multiple domes connected to a center dome. What I want to do is somehow design an outer enclosed ring going all the way around the circle of small connected domes for a geothermal climate-controlled indoor walking/jogging track. I say this with as much nerdy love as possible- your thumbnail building render totally looks like an Electross building. In general, I do really like the idea of a bunch of people getting together and making this kind of thing happen, especially since concrete is kind of an art, and airform use is a pretty niche skill. I tend to err on the side of caution, so having as many experienced eyes as possible on a project just makes sense. This kind of project is currently out of my reach, but its something I'm very interested in doing in the future. Something I want to really have my own hands involved in, so that's going to take some doing to get to that point. Got plenty of time to do research and learn. One thing I don't see much coverage on is with options when it comes to foundations on sloped land. Which is what you get around here unless you're in a floodplain. Do you basically just have to bite the bullet and spend the extra money to build some kind of retaining wall or deeper slab? Have you seen any particularly creative ways of handling hilly terrain, or an affordable/DIY way of building a dome on piers? You do mention the Hobbit Hole idea, but to my understanding, that takes a level of earth moving/reinforcement thats out of my depth/budget/etc.

Domes are nice, but back to the basics, US desperately needs a company producing aircrete (porocrete) bricks like Xella YTONG and many other produces we have in Europe. It's no coincidence that aircrete is number one building material in many countries in Europe and across the world. I believe it's significantly cheaper to build from aircrete blocks, especially in countries with costly workforce. And a perfect DYI material. And better material in probably every characteristic. I saw a video of mass "production" of aircrete blocks somewhere in Asia in former Soviet republic, done by few people with very primitive tools like basic cement mixer, foam generator and plywood forms. Heck someone in US can do start it too, do it much better with better tools, certify mechanical and thermal properties and roll through the American market, right?

Harry, I am a well rated [on Thumbtack] , Home remodeler and all around handy person. I travel about the US with a trailer and home van. I would be interested in being part of a team to go around the US to help people have a home when the banks and cities make it costly and difficult. I once had a house till the banks contributed to me losing it and having to short sell. They Certainly made out. Give people a home and they flourish as long as it’s made affordable which this does and surpasses codes etc…. I can do electrical and plumbing to a degree as well. I was in corporate sales for years and an ex Army Office in the infantry. So have skills to though into the mix. Not looking to make tons but contribute to the stabilizing factor towards peoples lives. I have been looking into this since Monolithic Dome homes in Italy Texas and now also into Bimini styles set us and the group also out of Thailand. I am in Tampa currently … A

Welcome to the channel Brandon, You are referring to autoclaved aircrete blocks which require mortar to be connected. I use the application of pouring / spraying monolithically all at once, therefore it doesn't require any joints for expansion.

I think it's a great idea. There is a lot of interest in unique airbnb stays. I think if you could design a few really functional and really interesting looking structures/layouts that were engineered, specifically for short term rentals you would have a lot of interest. The perabaloid looks too much like a twinkie for me.
