DIY Drawers for SUV/CUV - 2017 Hyundai Tucson - Part 1

This is a simple drawer system that can be used for secure storage/camping storage for the back of your SUV or crossover. It uses 100lb ball bearing drawer slides and gas shocks to access the spare tire. Comment below if you would like to see more on this series!

Hardware was sourced from local hardware stores, the gas struts were purchased online and can be found at most trailer/camper suppliers or truck accessories suppliers

okay, this is genius. The lift up to get to the spare tire helps me A Lot. I've been trying to figure this out, but there are sooooo many 'long' videos that never address this. Thank you for sharing this video

So glad I found your video. I have a 2012 Tucson SUV and the biggest issue was how to access my spare tire (I've never needed to, even on a 7 week trip around the country...but! This is awesome, thank you for the detailed information on how to accommodate for my needs! Plus, how to best utilize the small side spaces! I would love to see your complete build, my seats don't go all the way down either.

What you did was great! I would love to see what you do for a bed. When I travel I have to bring 2 cats and I am looking to put a cage in the back until I get to my destination. I think could work with something like this.

Did you use a carpet to put on top of the shelves? I am looking to make something similar for the back of my 2016 Tucson but with bed extension that can unfold into the middle section

Patrick, I used trunk fabric from the local automotive store, its pretty durable and cleans up easily. I have been working on a bed extension but with the height of the drawers the car is quite claustrophobic feeling. Once I refine the bed section I will upload an updated video.
