I know the tow ball is where it is - but if you could remove it & maybe mount a u-bolt (just a guess, reinforced of course) upside down a few inches from the ground- it wouldn't try to lift up so much maybe.

For the rig he's pulling just pull it with rope or chain with more distance between the two
