I would go the extra mile and produce a proper menu with powerdirector, a blu ray case, print artwork on the discs and have a slip cover. The hardest part is having a passable disc print.

It's worse when it's an old series that has a very very, very slim chance of appearing on streaming services. I made a custom DVD of the complete second series of the obscure and very under rated BBC sitcom Chalk because the second series never got an official release of any kind (it wasn't even released on VHS). The first series did get an official release by an independent label set up by a fan of the previous Steven Moffat sitcom Joking Apart but it is only available through that companies specific website. After the economic crash of 2007-08 and considering series 1 was released on DVD in 2008 it seems very unlikely they will ever release the second series. My copies of the episodes came from some rather quite appalling VHS rips taken from KZbin which I re-added the full opening titles and end credits (replaced the theme tune as well with the series 1 theme because it's cleaner and there are no continuity announcements) and applied an interlacing process in order to restore the original interlaced look. The BBC are a bugger for not releasing certain series onto DVD, sketch shows are the worse, they never put out the Smith and Jones series, or the BBC Kenny Everett show (they can stick that "the naughty bits" compilation up there back side) and the Harry Enfield shows (Harry Enfield and Chums is on Netflix and is occasionally shown on Gold but they never brought it out on DVD for some reason). As far as I am concerned if the company isn't going to let you have it legally than you should be entitled to get it no matter the means.

I have a question. The episode guide for each tv show that comes in a DVD case that tells me the name of each episode, what the episode is about, the original air date and what disc it's on, is there a guide on how to make one?

I think general Photoshop skills is really all you need. You can then format and create your own guide. If preferred, you could scale it so it's the same size as a DVD cover, but printed on the inside. Sorry I couldn't assist further!

This was a really cool and helpful video. I've tried making my own stuff but I want the things to look as authentic and professional as possible and I just don't feel like I do that well. Even if I can pull off a decent cover job, I don't have a color printer so that already ruins most of the appeal and then I can't burn art onto discs as well as I kind of suck at making DVD menus. But I will keep trying and keep working at it. Also thanks for the mention of Cover City, don't believe I've heard of it before, will check it out for sure! Oh and one last thing, could I get a download to your Invader Zim cover, I really like it?

Another series that sadly doesn't get the opportunity to be released physically is Monster High G3. last year, we got the first live action Monster High movie and the first season of the CGI NickToon. however, both haven't been released physically since they first premiered on Paramount+.

Hmm, games consoles may struggle with DVD R discs. You could always load up the file on a USB stick and play it off there maybe?

Yeah, movies can be burned to a disc providing you have a DVD drive. 1080p and 720p can be added to a disc, but the quality will not retain.

I'd imagine any print store could facilitate what you need - I've used my own home printer (A HP one from 2006) and some A4 paper with extra thickness. Gloss paper might be worth looking into for an authentic feel. :) Hope this helps.

Its a really tricky process honestly haha - it may depend on what paper you're printing onto if the ink is smearing. For authentic looking covers, thicker or glossy style paper might be worth looking into - most printer properties have specialised options for different kinds of paper usage. Hope this helps :)

Victor Vazquez, Other streaming services do this, too. It's soooo annoying! I still watch movies/ t.v. shows on DVD, and I've looked up a lot of movies/ t.v. shows to see if they're on DVD/ blu-ray, and a lot are, but then some aren't. I have a DVD only player, but I'm eventually going to get a blu-ray player, then a 4k player, but not, now.😞😢😭💔 I'm upset some movies/ t.v. shows aren't on blu-ray, but I can live with that, but if they're not on DVD, that's a different story.😂😂🤣🤣😅😅😆😆👍👌💯💯 Thanks to these companies that don't release on DVD/ blu-ray you have to resort yourself to burning the movie on a disc for DVD/ blu-ray. I will burn the movies/ t.v. shows on blu-ray, but DVDs okay for me, as long as I have DVD, I'm okay. Also, because they don't release movies/ t.v. shows on DVD/ blu-ray you have to resort to sites that say they have the movie/ t.v. show on DVD/ blu-ray. I've seen the movies that are not on DVD/ blu-ray when I've looked up the said movie, on DVD, and it'll show up on a site that says they have this said movie on DVD. I've only seen these movies on DVD, not blu-ray, tho. I said blu-ray tho, because I'm sure if you look up a movie that has not been released on blu-ray, it may or may not show up, then you have to resort to doing it yourself, or just doing it yourself, very annoying.😒😒🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
