I just tested out this formula and I love it! It's moisturizing without being greasy and it came together really well. I heated Phase A and B together in one dish as a shortcut and it worked perfectly. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge with us!

Hi, I'm another formulator, checking out Tara's channel. So far, so good! I saw a lot of comments asking if you can use BTMS-25 instead of BTMS-50. You really can't, here's why. BTMS-50 is half (50%) BTMS, half thickeners. BTMS-25 is 25% BTMS, 75% thickeners. If you substituted an equal amount of 25 instead of 50, you'd have half the emulsifier and might not be able to create a lotion at all, depending on the amount of oils/butters. Or you would end up with a thinner lotion ... it's hard to predict what would happen. You also end up with a lot more thickeners if you use 25. This might make the lotion too thick, or might just mess it up. Again, it's hard to predict. Formulators do a lot of experiments like this ... and end up throwing out *a lot* of failures. If you want to experiment, that's great, but if you just want to make one batch and have it turn out perfect ... don't substitute anything.

@@privilegiada1 Sometimes it does work out perfect! I'm glad it did in your case. That does not mean you can substitute BTMS-25 for -50 in other things and have it work ... definitely try it, but accept that you might get a product fail.

Hi Tara! I just found your channel and find it very informative :) Being a formulator myself, my advice would be to use as little as 2-5g of citric acid and equal part of water to adjust the pH, instead of using 50/50g. You only use few drops and throw the rest away which is a big waste, unless you store the solution and use it in other diys. Keep up the great work and have a prosperious New Year :)

welcome to the channel. hope you are enjoying it! 😊 happy new year 🎈 but i don’t waste the rest. i store this solution and usually use it up within a month. i talk about my pH adjusting method in more detail in my video all about pH - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZfSi2l4aZWBibM

I’m new to formulating lotions and body wash. Thankful I stumbled upon your channel and have been binge watching your channel… Your channel has provided me great insight on proper ingredients and the benefits of them. I signed up for your Pateron page and have been studying ever since lol… I just made my first test batch of this lotion Friday night and failed (mainly because I was jamming out to music and forgot to add em wax 🤦🏽♀️… tried to fix it but welp failed lol) then I made my second test batch yesterday (I used regular em wax instead of BTMS 50), then I used Stearic acid (since I had that already on hand because I use it in my candles), I also used mango butter because I wanted a soft luxury feel to it (idk if it’s considered luxury but it sounds fancy), then I used jojoba oil since it has vitamin e in it (had it on hand for body oils) and then I used Geogard 221. It came out perfectly! It didn’t streak or anything… it was the perfect texture and very silky smooth and soft! Definitely hydrating! Perfect summer lotion. I also used mica powder which I know but it worked fine! I didn’t have to combine it with anything it blended perfectly… I think it was because it was still warm idk but it worked lol I’ll be making a video for it soon and I’ll be sure to give you all the credit! Much love 💕
