DIY Easy Tiered Skirt | Owlipop DIY

Here's a quick and easy tutorial on how to make a DIY tiered mini skirt from scratch. You don't need a pattern so it's perfect for those of you who are beginners at sewing. I think it is super cute and perfect for those hot summer days that are hopefully coming soon. My skirt has two tieres but you can create more or even create a midi or maxi skirt using this tutorial. The ruffles make for a cute detail. I hope you enjoy!

Just made this, thank you for the great tutorial. The only thing I would say is I found that having section A being 2 times the waist measurement was a bit too much fabric. I took it down to 1.5 times the waist measurement and it was perfect. Other than that, amazing tutorial.

Yes you can add the third layer to make it longer the third layer is double of your first layer and attach it into the second in the same way which is shown the video 👍

hand sew 😍 all you need are pins, a needle, and thread! Your stiches will get better and more even with experience. I'm wearing a circle skirt that I hand stitched while watching tv. Very satsfying and relaxing hobby.

Hi, thank you🧡. I added 3 cm extra to the bottom layer to create the ruffles. They turned out about 1,5 cm

I really want to do it! It’s so beautiful... Just a quick question concerning the measurements for the bottom tier. When folding 3cm at the top and creating the ruffle, we then « lose » 6 cm on the skirt height. When cutting the rectangle, don’t we need to add 6cm instead of only 3? Thanks a lot for your answer!

I'm assuming she didn't leave the extra 6cm cuz she wanted it to be a shorter style for her measurements. But if you'd like a slightly longer fit I think it's a great idea to add 6cm to the initial cuts

okay so i’m trying to make this skirt and i’m just getting caught up on the fact that you cute your fabric to where it could wrap around you twice... am i understanding that correctly? does it just get smaller with the elastic?

Hi! Yes, the elastic will be your actual waist measurement and the extra fabric will create nice ruffles

I would say it doesn’t but half an inch seems really small, it may not sit well on the waist and « roll » over.

Just adjust the size of the casing or add extra rows of stitching to keep the elastic from rolling
