Sooo I made this skirt and I’m super happy about the result like it must be my most professional looking project 😢 so I’m gonna say what I did different just to give tips :-) I made it 15cm longer or so, and I was afraid that the ruffle wouldn’t be long enough but it was perfect! also I’ve cut 2 1,5m strips and sewn them together to make the 3m long band for the ruffles, and even though my fabric had flowers and not stripes, you don’t see the stitches because of the oh so magical ruffles, so it’s perfect if you’re working with very few fabric like I did (1,5 meter by 1,5 meter for me, it’s all about how you place your pattern pieces :)) and the last thing I did differently was the waist band, I found it very difficult to stitch it with this folding inside method I made a whole mess and had to unpick it (took me an hour 😭) because it was hard for me to get both sides at the same place under my needle so.. it was.. yeah a mess, so I decided to attach it like you would stitch together two pieces of fabric normally, and it worked just fine :-)! oh no I forgot one thing I sewed a button hole instead of this loop/ring thingy I forgot the name, and I sewed it on the other side, I can’t explain with words but it is more practical I find! Anyway here’s my review haha hope I’m not annoying just thought it would be nice to share other methods :-)

I just made this skirt and it's really cute! I used about 1m of lightweight cotton and instead of an eyelet, I made a button hole with my machine. It turned out really nice, thanks a lot!

Owlipop DIY one thing i wanted to know is how much do we hav tk measure for making frills ...is there a particular measurement? for eg if the skirt is 5cms and need to make frills... do we take 10cms or how much do we measure to make frills?

I would make the ruffles at least double the width of the skirt. That's why I recommended 300 cm.

Do you mean the ties? You could sew a button and add a buttonhole to close the skirt.

I just finished this skirt but I think one tie will need to be longer to be able to wrap around entire body or I should’ve made the main piece longer to wrap around better. Still it is a nice tutorial and pattern

Aarti Subedi it does once you can adjust the stitch length. It’s called gathering. You just have to set your machine to the longest stitch length which is usually 5😊

If you don't want to gather the fabric you need to make the skirt and the waistband the same size. In my case, the skirt is wider and it would not fit intro the waistband if not gathered.

Such a fantastic, easy to follow tutorial! THANK YOU! This is the first item of clothing i've ever made, and i didn't know it could be so easy! Next time i think i'll cut a curve in both edges of the skirt to create a slightly different shape, and make the waistband a few centimeters wider. Can't wait for more tutorials!!

how did You measure the amount of fabric needed for your size? because I'm a XL, around size 42-44 in EU sizing. Should I measure my waist or hips Times 1.5? Hope You can help, would really like to try Your tutorial!

I like to draw everything. If you know the width of the fabric you can draw all of these pieces, plan how you would cut the out and figure out how much fabric you need. Most fabrics are 140 wide. I would suggest you get 2,5m for a mini skirt (like the one I did). 2m would also work but it's better to have more in case you make a mistake.

I’ve used about 1,5 m (1,6 yards). You can easly determine how much fabric you need by adding the 5 fabric pieces together (0:43) and deciding beforehand how you will place them on the fabric (vertical or horizontal lines if you are using a striped fabric).
