I did exactly the same project few months ago and scooter still going strong. I have overvolted this motor to 75 volts as i have found it was slow on hoverboard battery that is only 36volt nominal. Now it pulls like a horse and peak at 2000wats!!! You should make polyurethane tyre for back wheel as this solid rubber cause lots of rolling resistance and your motor will be hot after few miles. Mine after polyurethane mod runs cool and consume 50%less energy so its a mod worth doing
@pxl6666 жыл бұрын
greg can u elaborate? Isn't easier to replace tire for pneumatic one ??
@greg238423846 жыл бұрын
Olga Piskorska you can't replace with pneumatic tyre as there is no space for tube valve you would have to drill thru hub motor and magnets and then motor stator would prevent wheel from spinning unless you would somehow mods this and route valve to come out on the side of motor. I basicly used polyurethane same material that skate wheels are made off. You can buy kit mix two part like resin and pour into mold and you get perfect low rolling resistance wheel. Please check my channel I have short video showing my scooter partially finished

Hover board scooters serve as great parts, im sure you could have made it a little faster and also since its so stealthy in shape, most people wont even know its electric. I have a kids razor like that, looks like a push scooter, I just loaded it with more batteries inside the frame, heavier but went from 10km range to 15km and less slowing down as it has more power within my 5-6km one way commute.

I like your ideas but Have you ever think about shaking the front wheel? because of the valances, front wheel and back wheel when 60kg to 100kg ride on board to speed up it should be shaking front wheel. too heavy the backside. What are people evaluated?

EBS !!!! Very effective ! electronic braking system .. its like a thumb throttle , you apply an amount and the magnetic field in the motor holds the motor, resisting the rotation thus braking is applied.

Not sure about life time of this build without dust and water protection. Big question is the price, it's not under 200 eur. Just hover board cost more than that, + throttle button, lcd, etc. There are some good options for about 350-400 eur, basically about same price. But if you have that all as a garbage and don't have to buy any of that parts, it's good and fun DIY project.

How many volts have you fed these motors? I have a 48-72v 1500 watt controller, I'm thinking 60v nominal, it was for a alternator conversion. I was thinking about getting a 48v nominal controller for these motors, around 750-1000 watts, being 350w at 36v motors, I heard they can handle 72v with some cooling holes, with a 75% duty cycle, I wanted to put these on a bike, use both to spin the wheel, using two controllers, with a 12s 16-24 ah battery , i need atleast 60kmh, and 120km range, I don't know much about these motors, what I really want is a pair of 3kw motor, on about 72v!

They can definitely handle 72volts nominal, I'm contemplating wether I should go to 108volts nominal.

Question about the VESC, does it need cooling? Running 50A continuous through it must get things pretty hot. I plan to use this with a 10S lipo to power a 350w hub motor scooter. My current cheap chinese controller uses trapezoid waveform so things are very noisy and there is lots of power loss. This controller seems to output a clean sine wave, however there are no hall sensor wires?
