The hotspot manufacturer is calling for a number 8 AWG copper with a 2 pole 50 amp circuit breaker GFCI. It's in there diagram and schematics showing all number 8's. I wanted to run number 6 gauge copper but their terminals would not fit it. What are your thoughts on this please? Thank you

If I wanted to run bigger wires like you so that I have less chance of hot wires and voltage drop over a long distance, I would simply trim the ends just enough to fit in the lugs.

@@TurbineGuy Never trim the ends of any wire. I would have to 100% disagree with you there

@@theseattlegreen1871 8 copper can hold 50-55 depending on type of wire and temp

Do you experience nuisance tripping of your 50amp gfci breaker you put in your main electrical panel? You might have been better off using a standard 2 pole breaker in the panel and installing a box outside that would accommodate the 2 pole 50 amp gfci spa breaker.

Could I install a 50 amp breaker in house box and then use a 50 amp gfci disconnect box?
@TurbineGuy3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that should be fine. key is to have the gfci somewhere.

I know i can do it. How do you want me fried or extra crispy?

Question. Should you be using THWN wire for wet areas? I thought you said THHN wire. Im not an elastration so Im asking...
@theseattlegreen1871 Жыл бұрын
If you look closely THHN and THWN will always be written on the wire next to each other. THHN stands for Thermoplastic High Heat-resistant Nylon-coated. THWN wire is the same, but the "W" stands for water-resistant. The main difference between these two standards is their maximum temperature in wet locations.

How in the world is your neutral wires bonded to the disconnect? Needs to be your ground!!

Hey, he said anyone can do it.

Wiring is a mess , not professional for sure

That is really funny. Passed the electrical inspection just fine. Not sure how you could do it any better given the circumstance I had with the house setup as is.

The lug you have used for neutral in disconnect, is for ground wires and neutral wires have to be connected with isolated lug in disconnect.

Instead of using gfci breaker in main panel…better to install gfci protected disconnect
