CoolRiceBunnies Thank you so much! This was so much fun to make and was surprisingly not as difficult as I imagined. I thought the balm would be soft and break easily, but it held together very well (even in hot weather) so it was easy to carve out the tiny details.

@SizzlePopCola Hi! Yes, this actually did work on my first try, even though I bought 3 EOS balms because I was sure I was going to mess up. I found the hardest part was pouring the black into the eyes and nose because any spillage would have ruined the piece. I ended up carefully adding the balm to the eye-holes using the needle rather than trying to pour the liquid balm through the eyes. Other than that, it was surprisingly straightforward :). The only other thing to watch out for is to screw the grate back on firmly and not to overfill the pink balm otherwise extra balm might get stuck in between the plastic ridges and stick the lid together. Carving out the eyes and nose was fiddly but the balm is surprisingly strong so if you work very slowly and carefully then it should be ok. If the weather is too warm then you can always put it in the fridge/freezer for a few minutes so the balm doesn't melt in your fingers.

I once tried fixing my eos and i tried really hard to no spill anything and right when i was about to put it in the fridge *splat*😫😵 it fell all over my kitchen floor and it dried clear so it was hard to clean haha all well 😂😂

@Thi Le Hi! Unfortunately the EOS itself is not enough to complete the entire tutorial because you will end up with a bit of wastage after mixing all the food colouring in. So it needs to be "bulked out" using random lip balms like I did or, of course, you can use a DIY lip balm recipe which many other EOS tutorials on KZbin show. (The basic recipe is 1/3 beeswax or non-toxic crayon (crayon is mostly wax) melted with 2/3 oil (coconut oil, olive oil etc).

I wish more diy channels on youtube would not use Crayons. Even though they are non-toxic for children to accidentally digest, Crayola themselves have issued a statement that Crayons shouldn't be used in make up products and they're not safe to be rubbing on skin. Its not what they have been tested for.

+Alex Watkins Yep, that's part of the problem of unregulated KZbin tutorials since crazy trends might emerge any time. The other problem is that if you use ONE edible ingredient as part of the balm (because it's obviously non-toxic and natural), then a huge number of people assume that it's ALL edible. Despite putting warnings in the video and text there are still viewers who end up eating the balm, wax and all :P

Maqaroon I just hope its a trend that dies down soon when more people realize its actually not safe. or at least people who have made makeup with crayola crayons don't use them very often. its bad because young people watch those youtube tutorials and they won't know any better because these diy-ers are telling them its okay and safe. I wonder if any of them have ever had skin problems because of it.

I swear... this is the best diy eos video ever... most diy eos are not exactly rounded like in the video... they use plastic wrap which have marks on them when they are frozen. Not to mention, it has a cute design on it♡♡♡♡ good job^~^

Heidi Bang Yaay thank you!! I was surprised how easy it was to get the round shape since the lid acts as a mould. I was playing around with another EOS recipe (where I did make the balm from scratch) and ended up moulding and re-melting that 3 times because I was tweaking the recipe.

Crystal Blue Nope, the black only makes up such a small part of the design that it doesn't leave any colour behind. The white part of the koala's face 'neutralises' the black colour completely so the final balm goes on clear :).

I love the DIY, especially the idea of using other cheap lip balm instead of beeswax. So creative! ^_^ If you use different lip balm though, (I would probably do this but you don't have to) I'd check if there's any scent because if you mix the scent with the one from the eos, it might smell funky xD I still love all your DIYs, Maqaroon :)

Peyton Loves Reborns Yes It worked so well :D Totally worth it! But it was difficult carving out the head as it starts melting so you have to keep putting it back in the fridge .-. But I'd recommend giving it a try.

Eve Fan Thank you! I watched DIYlover 's video and figured that the needle technique would work well for making animal heads and kawaii stuff. I actually bought 3 EOS balms because I was sure I'd mess some up but I was surprised that it worked on the first try. The hardest part was poking holes for the eyes and nose but the balm was surprisingly sturdy so it didn't break even though the koala head piece was so delicate ^_^
