Diesel and turbo motors have no vacuum, so they use the power steering circuit to power the brakes.

I believe the Freelander 1 TD4 has a vacuum pump bolted to the engine.

I can't see anything wrong with that configuration Ali. The sensor needs to measure the vacuum at point of use, which is why Audi put it by the servo. You could hook it up to the servo in a few seconds, so you can test its recovery time in no time. ;)
