You are the f@#kin Best!! My cb7 is almost back otr after damaging my h23 and being stuck with no options, no car and very little $$. I took the h23 head and a f22a1 block that I had sitting for 6 years, put them together with a hope and prayer; Now it starts and drives but I'm still working out the lil issues. You gave me hope where there was none because everyone said it wouldn't work, Thank You, if you want; I'll send you a clip a clip of my car.

Really nice seeing coverage of the g23 building. I know there's plenty of info in forums, but its completely different actually being able to see everything in a video. You're starting to revive my want of a g23 again. My first car was a f23a1 and always wanted to do a g23 build. I got a few j series cars and a 95 civic with a d15b7. I was gonna j swap the civic since I have a spare j30a4 laying around from my accord's j32 swap but I might just do a g23 on it instead.

@@sagittnet2158 I saw that one on your video. Looked pretty wicked. The jswap concerned me with how low the oilpan would have to be to keep the hood. I wouldn't do a swap and have to take off the hood or cut a ridiculous hole in it. G23 I think is the way. Though, the civic is my daily till I find the extra time to replace the clutch on my accord. Burnt it out with too many burnouts lol

I always use Honda OE F23 headgasket. A friend tried out Victor Heinz headgasket, he actually have a episode of it on his channel gfitaliacorse. Trouble free, only use Honda Oe headgasket and always apply some Hondabond or Mega grey sealant even if you use a kstune plug.

H22 will be the best choice on any build, coz of reliability and parts wise, no need to mix n' match parts. All you need is plain H22 parts. On other hand, if you want to be different, you can build a frank engine like H23a(h22 head w/ h23a1 or f22 crank). Build a G23vtec w/c what l have goin on right now. Always weigh your option w/c parts will be easier for you to collect. It'll be nice also if you have a spare car, that way if something goes wrong at least you still have a car to use.

For the g23 build with h block and f23 crank, do you use h pistons or can you use k24 pistons?
@sagittnet2158
@sagittnet2158 Жыл бұрын
If the H22 (55mm main) still has FRM sleeve, it's strictly OE pistons only, using other than OE piston will have a possibility of ruining the frm cyl walls. But using H22a4 piston will create more comp ratio than you need unless your'e ok w/ it. Piston will stick out 0.020" pass the block. Some have use it like these but that's all up to you. H23a bluetop is the best piston to use on setup that you mention because it has the right piston ht and also the correct orientation of wrist pin offset, if you can find one. I've seen others that use Mahle or Nippon racing piston, even they say it compatible w/ frm sleeve and yet its still locking up or scraping the piston skirt. Some folks just use a bit thicker headgasket when they use OE h22 piston w/ f23 block to lower the comp ratio a bit. If you are using e85 for fuel, you might can get away w/ using h22 piston w/ f23 crank.

In other hand if your h22 got iron sleeve, then you pretty much can choose a variety of forged piston.

@sagittnet2158
@sagittnet2158 Жыл бұрын
OE use oil pump is way better than any aftermarket oil pump you can get. As long as you check all internal gears clearances and if w/in limits, you can reuse it. What usually kill the oil pump are vibration from the crankshaft, deleting balance shafts is one of the culprit and many others. It can damage the gears in prolong peroid of time.

the balance shaft have nothing to do with the actual balance of the rotating assembly so your whole test with an ati balancer isn't gonna show anything its the exact same as the 4.3 Chevy v6s its just there to offset the natural shake or frequency of the engine similar with Harley Davidson motorcycle they idle all day long and look like a jack hammer bouncing up and down but no one complains about the balance because nothings wrong its just inherent in engines with fewer pistons the extra vibration you may or may not feel coming from the engine after a balance shaft delete isn't because the engine is unbalanced anymore its just because that's the natural hum of the engine if you wanna call it that kind of like exhaust drone nothings wrong its just there it might be annoying but some people can deal with it and others will install a resonator
@sagittnet2158
@sagittnet2158 9 ай бұрын
Good explanation, when l had the b/s deleted on tge other motor, it's the humming sound that l noticed during idling and never liked it. We'll see if l will hear or eperience that resonant humm after w/ ati damper. Thanks for your input.

Seems like if the balance shaft was only for calming the cabin vibration and not for longevity of the engine itself , they could have accomplished that goal with something much simpler that balance shafts. I'm not saying who is right or wrong but I did run an H22 briefly without the balance belt and I immediately put it back on. It just feels like the engine wants to shake itself apart. I'm working on an F20B to drop in soon and I am still debating on if I want to keep the balance shafts or not. Wouldn't the shorter stroke be less prone to vibration than the typical H22 or F23A crank?

@@jamesstewart1794 I think it would have the same effect on all of honda's big block. I nevet did liked it when l deleted the b/s on one of my g23. I felt the same thing like you did. That's why l said the next time l delete the b/s, l'll use a damper. Actually someone made a comment before you that the it's not the same purpose the damper will do. B/s is to cancel the resonant of pistons going up and down and the damper is to cance the out of bakance of rotating assy. I want yo know if there will be a difference and ati damper is still on my wish list. I'll review it once it's operational.
