Hi I'm new to sewing and super excited to make this for my grandson!! But I'm a little confused on laying the pattern out not sure whatl the small squares on the pattern if I cut them off or line them up with each other..

Hi there! Do you mean the test squares? There are two squares on the pattern just to measure to check that the pattern has printed correctly. You don't need to use those squares as part of the pattern they're just to check the size with. To lay out the pattern you match up the letters and then the shaded border sections on the edge of the page so you can tile the pattern together. Is that what you mean?
