@tessenCNC
@tessenCNC Жыл бұрын
thank you very much, I don't know much about motorbikes, but in general, clutches work more by a friction locking between parts, this is more like an interlocking, the stop position at each station, has to be always the same, so as not to affect the machining.

Greetings from Australia This is a beautifully designed tool turret. Wonderful work and an excellent video production easy to understand. I am half way to making a turret also in CAD first. You design has inspired me. The Hirth coupling I guess is the biggest hurdle at 600 Euro it is a lot for a DIY maker. I wonder if this would work? Replace the Hirth rings with two similar size to the Hirth coupling rings, with two rings that have a circular array of of holes that are joined by a circular array of array of matching ball bearings. I have drawn this up and I think I can get it to work. The balls need to be slightly bigger than the holes in the disks. They also need to be retained to one of the disks. Using balls and holes instead of teeth still enables the error averaging that is the real key to the accuracy of a Hirth coupling. An array of holes in a disk is fairly easy to make for a DIY machinist. I made the disks 10mm thick 10mm holes.
@tessenCNC
@tessenCNC 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm glad you like it, thank you for your words. The coupling, you can do it, yes, but it is not as simple as it seems, it is not only that the holes of the plate match in one position, but must match in all positions, without moving the plates or axially or radially, if you have access to industrial cnc machinery you can do it, apart these discs must withstand the load of the tool without moving. Hirth discs are so expensive because they ensure all this, they are hardened and ground.

Excellent work! It looks very rigid.. I'm curious to know why didn't you use pneumatics for clamping force?
@tessenCNC
@tessenCNC 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks, because the turret cannot rely on air to maintain position, if there is a problem in the pneumatic line and pressure is lost, it can be unsafe. On the other hand, while the lathe is cutting part of the cutting force is used to close the two hirth discs and this force is added to the force of the springs, just turning from the chuck outwards, the springs do all the clamping force.
@gerhardgroenewald6560
@gerhardgroenewald6560 2 жыл бұрын
@@tessenCNC ahh... I had an idea that was the reason. What do you think about putting a pressure sensor on the piston if you were using it for clamping. AS soon as it picks up a pressure drop it activates estop. Would that be possible in mach macro and what do you think about that idea? Im building a turret soon and cant make up my mind. Your video already helped alot.Any futher advice would be much appreciated. Anything you would do different with you turret design? How is your bronze bearings holding up? Look like you did a slow oil quench to the tool holder?
@tessenCNC
@tessenCNC 2 жыл бұрын
@@gerhardgroenewald6560 - yes, there are a few ways to do things, if you put any kind of pneumatic control system to control the state of the clamp, it will work, in this video I do it the other way around, with the switch I am controlling that the tool holder can rotate - bronze bearings only support the shaft, they do not fix the shaft position, because hirth couplings are self-centering. - the tool holder has a bluing treatment to avoid oxidation, it is a chemical bluing, it is not by heating and putting the piece in oil. - I am very happy with the tool changer, everything can be improved, but I don't see any major defect to correct. I have pending to make a video demonstration, not only of the tool changer, but of all the functions that I have added to the lathe, but I still have other things to do.

Hello! I do not have a scheme as such, I have an excel sheet where I write down where each cable goes, the control board of the motors is the Kflop of the company Dynomotion, it is a fully programmable FPGA type, depending on the configuration you load this can be a lathe or a washing machine 😄 I use this board for all my machines, I leave a link for you to see "the wiring" actually outputs are outputs and inputs and can be configured --> dynomotion.com/Help/SchematicsKFLOP/ConnectorsKFLOP.htm

@tessenCNC
@tessenCNC 2 жыл бұрын

Sir, how do you track the tool position? I noticed you use a hybrid stepper/servo and no separate position sensor?. I understand the microswitch is to indicate curvic coupling released and tool ready to rotate.
@tessenCNC
@tessenCNC 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, the turning motor of the ATC head is a 100w ac servomotor and I do not have a "tool 0" or index type position sensor, to know which tool I am in, when I start the lathe for the first time, if I leave one of the 8 buttons on the control, pressed for 2 seconds, this indicates to the control the number of the tool that is in the working position in the turret, if it is pressed for less than 2 seconds it will change to the number of the tool of the button pressed and if it is longer than 2 seconds it will indicate that the tool in the working position corresponds to the number of the button pressed.
