Im making Ravennas first black feather cape. It won’t be as in the movie but similar looking with black feathers with green tint. I already made one but now doing a another better one.

I am in love with this luxurious raincoat! Can you have a video tutorial on how you created it? How did you make such a collar, how did you sew it, what kind of lining, how did you make the collar stand and keep its shape?

Thank you! I have a build write up that you can check out to learn how I created this costume: downencreativestudios.com/queen-ravenna-the-huntsman-winters-war/

Did you use real feathers or synthetic feathers? How did you paint them gold or did you buy them prepainted? If so, what are they called?
@DownenCreativeStudios3 жыл бұрын
I made fabric feathers with gold lamé fabric, and I painted them with acrylic paint to give them more dimension.

I’m working in a piece with a feather cape, and this is fantastic! Question, how many yards did you get for the feather bits?
@DownenCreativeStudios6 жыл бұрын
Brittany Reynolds oh gosh, I can’t quite remember but it’s AT LEAST 6 yards. I also used a couple different fabrics so it may have been more than that. I used two different fabrics for texture as well as just in case the fabric store ran out of one style I’d have the other! :)
@beep62026 жыл бұрын
Nice idea with the multiple textures, love it! Thanks for the reply! :)

Amazing work! Just a masterpiece! I am delighted with your idea and tutorial. Tell me, what kind of fabric are feathers made of? What is it called? Thank you in advance for your reply. Good luck and new masterpieces!

Thank you! The fabric I used was gold láme stretch, and a gold foil fabric.

how did u put the whole thing together and how did u make the neck part
@DownenCreativeStudios7 жыл бұрын
Michael Velez I attached the feathers individually to the cape fabric from the bottom up. For the collar I made a frame with wire and stuff interfacing and attached the feathers to both sides. There's a better explanation on my website 😊

how did u keep the harness in place and thanks for all the other information
@DownenCreativeStudios7 жыл бұрын
Michael Velez I have an elastic strap that wraps around my shoulders and clips together in the back to keep the cape from sliding off. The collar is attached to the cape with heavy duty snaps so it is removable for transport and storage 😊

Hello, what is the name of the fabric you wore? thankful
@DownenCreativeStudios6 жыл бұрын
I used two types of gold lame that i picked up at my local fabric shop. One of them was pretty stretchy so I was able to incorporate a couple of textures into the cape.
@TheSuezcue6 жыл бұрын
How much fabric did u use to make the feathers?
@DownenCreativeStudios6 жыл бұрын
Sue Robinson I used several yards of two different kinds of gold lame. The yardage depends upon how large of an area you need and how dense the feathers are. If your Cape needs 4 yards, then I would triple that amount to get the coverage you need. But again, this is highly dependent upon how you design your own cape :)

Ok..thanks... That helps...i definitely probably wouldn't have bought enough...lol. I'm thinking of attempting to make something similar to this for Halloween this year....i enjoy going all out with creating my own costumes n doing my own make-up as well...

to remove hot glue from almost anything, drip some isopropyl alcohol on the glue joint. it will release and can be pulled off easily ;-)
