You are VERY talented! These are absolutely beautiful! I have a few real Talavera pots I bought when I lived down in El Paso. We used to go over to Juarez to a family operated pottery shop to buy. They were so cheap but SOOO beautiful and unique. Over the years I lost some of those pieces from breakage from weather, moving or other things. I only have three or four left now. And I no longer live down in the Southwest where access was so easy. I'm up in the Pacific Northwest now and the cost for real Talavera is astronomical! I have often wondered how to possibly make some of my own but never could figure out exactly how. Your video made it look so easy (though, I know it's not) and I'd love to try your methods you showed here! You have done such beautiful work on all your own pots you just showed here. I love them all! Thank you for your excellent tutorial! 😍

Fabulous work on your telavera pot painting. I believe the peacock and sunflower pots were my favorites, but a video on the peacock drip if not already done would be enjoyable. Hope you’re still at this. The filming of this pot was 3yrs ago.

You did an absolutely beautiful job. I have painted a few and I’m about to paint three more. But yours is so elaborate. I haven’t tried anything quite that complicated. You inspired me though.

Long video. You're very detailed.. I think I would purchase a pot I liked, copy it, then return it to the store. For all the advanced designs you picked out and then your pot was simple. Very cost effective to make your own. I like this one better than the old ones you showed your artistic ability has grown! That came out nicely! And I like that it was handmade.by you!!!

Thanks so much for this video, you did such a beautiful job! I’m wondering what you think about sealing the pot first if it’s bare terra cotta. This was recommended by some other people making faux talavera or other types of painted pottery.
@makeitrainediy2 жыл бұрын
Hi Marylynn! All of the larger pots I've used have had a glaze on them already, but yes it wouldn't be a bad idea to seal bare terra cotta if for outdoor use. I also use a base coat of the white rustoleum paint/primer which helps as well. Happy Making! ✨️

😢 i only see one video. Would love to see more from you. I would like to see drip technique.

Outdoor spray paint and acrylic paint will eventually chip off due to the humidity that’s naturally found in the clay. By adding a plant that you water, you will speed up the time it takes for the paint to eventually chip off. The plastic breaks down due to the constant moisture trapped between the exterior paint coating and the clay. It will bubble, crack and chip off. Don’t waste your time because it won’t even last a year outdoors unless you live in a very humid environment.

Can I use a concrete pot.
@makeitrainediy2 жыл бұрын
Yes I think concrete would work great! Depending on how the pot is made you may want to seal the concrete before painting. And then of course seal your artwork as well afterwards.
