Sure it costs money. But look at the versatility, the convenience, the ease of use! Thanks to it being showcased so well in this video, I will definitely be investing in that multi function marking gauge.

Bas It is DIY - for a wealthy weekend wood warrior who wants perfection. No good in a production environment, if it's all you have. You would tear your hair out, and sell it within a week.

It depends on what your definition is of a DIYer. Spending $10000+ on a machine is not DIY in my book. Not to say i wouldn't buy one if i won the jackpot. But to me, a DIYer creates stuff while not spending a fortune on equipment.

As a tool and die guy I'm a sucker for detail, demonstration and accessibility. This was a wonderful demonstration of an assortment of basic instruction, mild opinions leaving the stone to set itself, providing the raw elements we needed to know and WANTED to see, sure we can figure it out but boy is a well narrated idea alot easier to follow when you can pause and rewind. Well done sir.

ummone, only if the price of Siberian Larch has risen over 5x in the past decade. 2" thickness SL was about $4.20 per sq ft in 2006. (Couldn't find a current quote.) Estimated this is about a 10 ft diameter tub 5 ft tall gives it a lil over 500 sq ft before benches and such, including the cut offs. The machine costs much more than ~$1,100 of lumber.

They target the DIY because it's a one man machine. You can do it all yourself which is fantastic. Felder makes some incredible things and if you're looking to setup a one man shop this is a fantastic setup. As a wood worker it would be awesome to have something like this. I have a ton of tools which could be consolidated in my workshop with a Felder combo. Accuracy is so darn important and sometimes that's all it takes to make or break a customer relationship.
