You can also use the zip ties with the ring built right into it.
@darylhawkins46583 жыл бұрын
Anthony Fasulo that’s what I use.

Great idea Tony. If you don’t have a small split ring you could use a small neoprene o-ring.

Other of these hacks may look better but take a long time. This is the best one I have found. Where there was no "rib" to keep the zip tie tight, here is what I did - I tightened it about 6-8" down the rod, pulled it up to where I wanted it (thus really tightening the zip tie), and put on a drop of super glue. Start to finish 15 min for 10 rods! Costs less than $2 total. Actually, I already had everything but that was a guestimate if I had to buy the stuff. Thanks for the idea.

Also, make sure you are using ties that are UV stable. The black ones usually are. The clear usually never.

These videos are great and helpful. how about a video that features clothing and accessories that are best for different conditions? what are some good shoes for summer wade fishing, shirts that breath and protect the best, some guys wear gloves and some do not, why?

Too simple. Thanks For the Hack. AWESOME!!!!

I love your quick/concise videos. Thank you! BTW, you can buy zip ties with a round hole on the end providing a place to screw it to the wall. They work good, but the zip ties can snag your line while casting if your not really careful during the install process.

How if I use rubber pad for non hock rod?

Great Idea! I would make sure to sand or file down the zip tie edges to prevent cuts or abrasions to your fingers and hands.

I usually like these haks but for all the effort finding the right ties and rings there is also the 3rd option. Repair it. These keeper wires can be ordered and with a little gel work the old can be removed an the replacment reinserted. Good project for a rainy fla day an no worries about further damage from the gel coat or possibly cutting ur hand.
@webincomeincome87673 жыл бұрын
Exactly my faults. A how to correctly replace seems more appropriate but certainly a good short term answer.
@sportdiver00773 жыл бұрын
For sure. There's a bunch of ways to do it. Just an idea for those days when u can't get out but want to tinker with the tackle. Theres some good vids on adding or repairing the keeper. And in the short term Tony has some great hacks on here also.

Cut a piece of bicycle tube rubber and place the zip tie on it, to stop it from sliding.

Great Tip Tony - any concern with the tie wrap piece cutting your hand ? Normally the cut off piece is sharp. Do you sand it down?
@sledzep013 жыл бұрын
You can buy a zip-tie tool that completely tightens and then cuts it flush. Not sure of the price, but better than being cut, or even worse being surprised and then dropping the rod.

Pablo you should try the Fuji Ez Keeper there in tackle Warehouse I’m sure you can find them somewhere else I use them and there awesome

@@jelly_fishing no problem I don’t like cutting myself and I know you don’t Either they last along time too I have had it on my rod for almost 1 year and it’s still works awesome

Twist the tag end off with a pair of pliers and you get a nice tight fit without the sharp tag to cut you.
@seanwilliams84523 жыл бұрын
Small tip, use pliers and twist the end of the zip tie until it breaks off, it will eliminate the sharp edge and keep your hands and line safe
@frizellculley12383 жыл бұрын
On my kayak, I use the zip tie that have a screw hole for mounting to the in it. All in one.
@BeckVMH2 жыл бұрын
I used two zip ties, one for the hook and the other to attach to the rod. No metal rubbing the rod.
@Fairwind-Godspeed3 жыл бұрын
If you twist the tag end off with a pair of pliers instead of cutting it off, there is no sharp edge to cut you, and they will!
