Most of the Mag Drills have an oil/lubricant bottle on the side and feed tube to the centre of the drill. The push rod travels up when contacting the material and allows cutting fluid to the inside of the cut. This reduces any smoke and area splash. At least the surface won't rust any time soon. I still would have used a jig for hole punching rather than measuring those 180 odd holes. Great vid!

Thanks for the feedback 🙏. Spent all of yesterday making it haha. I probably won’t use the drill as often after this job but it’s definitely handy to have since it does such accurate holes rather than being on an angle like you can easily do with a hand drill. I definitely needed some recovery time after all those holes haha. Cheers! I’ll be watching your latest saw blade video in just a moment 😎

Looks amazing. Great job. Cant wait to do this myself but i think im going to use a chalk line to mark out my grid instead.
@Fab-Life444
@Fab-Life444 2 ай бұрын
Thanks man. Yeah I did contemplate doing it that way but I saw other people marking the table… wish I didn’t because now I want to sand the marks out haha… oh well you learn from your mistakes. I truly think the tape is the best way because it allows you to sink the centre punch into it a little before you hit it.. much more stable. When I rested it on the raw metal, it easily slipped and would result in a slightly inaccurate placement of the hole. Doesn’t bother me because I’ll probably end up using clamps on it mostly and will always triple check for square

I've seen guys make a jig for this. As in on the first two rows lay out and drill through table as well as a plate across. Then slide the plate along bolting it to the previous holes and using it as a guide. As long as you get the first rows straight it should work out perfect.
@Fab-Life444
@Fab-Life444 2 ай бұрын
I did see a few videos of people doing that. I thought that no matter how perfect I try to be… I’ll always be off slightly so… I didn’t bother. At the end of the day… I’ll probably just be clamping material down rather than relying on the squareness of my holes haha

If you buy the cheap thin table sold at a bunch of different retailers you can use that as your jig and then give it away or cut it up for fixtures. Not sure where you would get them internationally but in the US the same style table is sold by Kluch, Harbor Freight, Vevor etc.

Looks good mate. Beats paying thousands for a brand name table if you don’t need absolute precision. Did you consider using the arcdroid to cut the holes? Then run a clearance drill through them if needed? Have you thought about making the table so that the arcdroid water table can be stored under it therefore saving space? Looks like you have a decent size shed there anyway so might not be needed.

Nah… the chalk was too inaccurate. I found the pen to be a sharper point… if the scribe was able to stay sharp longer, I would have preferred to use it throughout the job. Get a diamond hone on a stick…you can touch up your cutters by hand…do this before they get too dull…i drill structural steel, and hit hard spots from time to time….which will dull a cutter fast….you can also clamp a part on table and bring mag drill into position and drill with annular cutter without a hole in table for cutter to go through as the slug will stay in hole and protect table as long as you stop pushing when cutter breaks thru, you may get a slight scoring, so you can place a sacrificial piece on table where cutter will be, it can be very thin…2mm or so..hope this gives you some ideas…i do not know how I lived without a mag drill for so many years…Paul ….i have some videos on my channel of mag drill use…check them out…

It might sound rather stupid but why didn't you build a wooden square frame about 20 cm high to go around the drill to stop most of the chaff from going everywhere and put a steel 20 liter tin under the table on something to raise it to near table height to move around under every hole you cut. Last thing you want is metal pieces in the bottom of your boots they end up anywhere.
