Thanks for sharing, I like the idea of clay pebbles in the floating pot.......... now I have to think what plants to put in that winter is approaching here in Melbourne Australia.
@UnitedRanch Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much!🤠 yes I love the pebbles as they are so much lighter than pea gravel!👍. Flag grass stays pretty in the winter where I’m at… and there’s different varieties 😊👍

Awesome. Thankyou. Neat, tidy, easy to do and the black color falls into the background. Just what I was needing.

Oh awesome!!👍… yes and I’ve also put burlap on the sides of the floaters if you want a more natural sand/dirt color! I plan on putting a vid up on an XL floating planter I made using the same system! Works great! Just put two of the pipes together… like a 9’x5’ planter!

Haha wow! You read my mind! That’s my video I’m working on now!! They are doing great and I created two more… and made a super size one lol! Hopefully get the vid out soon👍

So how do U fertilize the plants in the clay pebbles-Leca? And what type of fertilizer?
@UnitedRanch Жыл бұрын
The fertilizer is the organic debris in the pond itself… mainly the fish waste!…. I love aquaponics … such an easy system to upkeep the plants in!🤠👍 the roots looove soaking up the extra nitrates in the pond!

Nice pond. I was surprised you didn't coat the insides of the pipe connectors? I've been using ABS, the black DWV stuff, for my pond plumbing. Go - No Go?
@UnitedRanch Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Coat the insides of the pvc with what? I bet abs would be fine… usually just rated for drain and not pressure but it probably would be fine I think!
@unclegeorge7845 Жыл бұрын
@@UnitedRanch Fully paint the PP material before joining with the Plant Save liquid that you painted around just the lips of the pipe. Just use it like a PVC or ABS cement?

It’s been a year. Any issues with the shade cloth not holding up?
@UnitedRanch Жыл бұрын
Hey there! I have four regular size planters and one large island which are all doing awesome! The shade cloth is holding up very well… I actually just transplanted many plants from my islands to plant other places as the plants do so well in the floating planters! The wildlife and whole ecosystem is thriving with them🤠👍

@@UnitedRanch How did you close the sides of the shade cloth ?

Hi, really cool video, thank you. I would like to know ifthe plants that wouldnt stand upright, eventually stood upright once their root system developed
@UnitedRanch5 ай бұрын
Thank you! And Yes! …Once the roots established and tie themselves onto the netting I’ve had really tall papyrus ! It’s pretty cool🤠!

Why would you need the water bottles inside?
@UnitedRanch2 жыл бұрын
I use them to add extra buoyancy and just in case there ever gets a hole in the pipe or flex seal… even though the drain pipes float by themselves! I actually recently put in 2 HDPE pipes for floaters that I had bought before I researched the PP pipes… one with bottles and one without… both are doing great😊👍
@paulofernandes90052 жыл бұрын
you can also use a pool noodle
@UnitedRanch2 жыл бұрын
Yes that is another option!… I just wanted a more heavy duty and more permanent floater, one thats a larger size or one I can adjust to a larger size (I have an island that is 9’x5’), and I prefer to use polypropylene or virgin grade hdpe over polyethylene foam. But yes many different desires and builds out there😊👍
@andrewgrose21802 жыл бұрын
Couldn't you just cut small holes in the clay pebble bag and hose directly into the bag, giving that a shake?
@UnitedRanch2 жыл бұрын
You can do that as well but for me it seemed more efficient in removing the red color dust from the pebbles by doing it in smaller batches … but it should eventually work too👍
