She doesn't stipulate the amount of water to use (with the 1-2 tablespoons of liquid hand soap), so -- for those who DON'T already have a Bath & Body Works bottle handy, know that it holds 8.75 fl. oz. That way you can work with whatever OTHER size bottle you already have (or plan to get), and just keep the soap-to-water ratio in mind.

Hi Kara, Sorry it has taken me so long to answer you. I first heard about this idea 20+ years ago and they used dish soap. I thought it was smart, and did this for years with good results. I kept trying to add scents to my soap to get it to smell as good as B&BW, but nothing smelled right. Then one day, I thought, why not use B&BW shower gels/body wash, and that simple idea, changed my soap needs forever. The biggest benefit for me was that my teenagers started washing their hands regularly for the payoff of the smell. Isn't that sad, but funny? Good luck.

My oldest is 28, the year before my child's birth I was trying to see how $$ could be saved in my budget without having to spare some fun luxuries and still have enough $$ to buy necessities for the home. Stretching products with nice scents for hygiene, kitchen and bathroom use was one priority. This was the 1st hack I mastered, making foaming hand soap and foaming shower soap. It lathers well once it's agitated into a moist wash cloth, the water doesn't have to run the whole time and less soap is used too. When Aveeno created foam facial care products, that was copied too. Neutrogena shampoo and facial wash was a foam for me before the company had such a thought for their product. Thank you to my chemistry prof for making students ponder, experiment and learn from trial and error. It helped me become creative during some tight times.

Good question, Life of Yooms. Traditionally soap does not kill germs, but instead washes them away. Antibacterial soap, however, can kill germs, but I think most of B&BW soaps are not antibacterial.

I was trying to make it as close to the original as possible. I actually don’t add it anymore, as I don’t care if my foaming soap is other than white.

I thought this was going to be a "DIY from scratch" ....not what I was hoping for. :(

Same. I’ll make an actual DIY handsoap video
@LoriGarcia6 жыл бұрын
Sorry it wasn't the video you were hoping. I've tried to make it from scratch and it never smells remotely close to B&B. When I had the idea to dilute their body gel, I was able to create a similar product as their foaming soap for much cheaper. Thanks for your comments.

Me.. thinking your actually going to make something... not put an existing product in a bottle and add water.....
@AliceWanders3 жыл бұрын
Not to mention, this "recipe" is just bad... you dont add water to something unless youre also adding in a preservative, and food colour is a big no in body products. Holy this video is infuriating with its misinformation

i am sorry, but i disagree with the adding of food coloring for hand soap. it can cause skin irritation.
@LoriGarcia2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input. I didn't find it caused me any irritation, but I found it unnecessary, so I don't even add it anymore. I'm sure it could be an irritant, though, so thank you for sharing.

*Red Food Coloring??...* It's one of the most controversial ingredients. The dye can dramatically affect brain function & is linked to allergies, migraine, and even mental disorders in children. Red Dye #40 goes by many names: Allura Red - Allura Red AC - C.I. 16035 - C.I. Food Red 17 - FD&C Red No. 40 - Red 40 - and Red No. 40

So...... if a better channel is the goal then cut down on the bullshit at the beginning and go straight(er) to the good content. Unless you are happy with the current subscription rate. Obviously what I wrote initially. Just not in crayons. So........

FFS the entire tutorial is 2:16 if your attention span is no longer than a giraffes go watch the cartoon network. This woman is running a business and promoting it on HER channel. Why are you so mean? The world is nasty enough w/o people being so trifling. Save your fingers, I have no interest in your negative vibe.

“Hate to see your hard earned money down the drain?” Yet you are still using expensive B&BW gel as your main ingredient 🤦🏼♂️🙄. This is not a tutorial on how to make your own stuff. Hard pass lady lol

Well - It is a good tutorial but if you want to use cheaper stuff just do that. You’ve got directions here
