Cool, how did you get the audio to be so clear? I built a mask similar to this and had a hard time getting good audio
@WaterlineShorts4 жыл бұрын
I dropped a GoPro in the mask and used the audio from that video. Hero 5 which can get wet.

@@WaterlineShorts wow so there was enough room inside near your face for a whole gopro...cool. I bought a cheap audio recorder and tried that but it was always too hot and clipping
@trombonista925 жыл бұрын
you should try this with a full face gas mask, or an industrial respirator like from the company 3M, they are less then 150$
@WaterlineShorts5 жыл бұрын
I'll check that out!

Great work... Maybe you could stop the free flow by de-tuning the 2nd stage...
@damo59983 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. This , in theory, should work and I will try this myself. correct tuning of the second stage will stop the free flow. Did you test the second hand reg before modifying to the mask for correct operation? Thanks for the vid, great ideas on how to do this myself.

Would it be busted if the mask was hooked to a low pressure hookah compressor at less then 150psi instead of 3000psi tank?
@WaterlineShorts4 жыл бұрын
Hey. A regulator downgrades the 3000psi from the tank to around 150psi above ambient pressure so that wouldn't make the difference you think it would. Full face masks have straps on the side of the face and that would make a bigger difference.

Thanks for your help on the video Shaun. It was fun to make. I think I might be able to get it to work if I can just put more straps on the side. Ha ha. Round two?
@ExplainwithShaun5 жыл бұрын
You could try a stronger mask strap and it will probably work because real scuba masks straps aren’t stretchy like the ones on your mask
@WaterlineShorts5 жыл бұрын
Explain with Shaun yep. Also the position. I think straps on the sides will help. I had to hold the sides to make it seal. Proper full face masks have straps on all sides.

What if you had not cut off the piece on the top... air would flood the mask... but instead of not being able to seal it tight enough to your face... Wouldn't it just flow right out the snorkel piece?
@WaterlineShorts2 жыл бұрын
Possibly. I hadnt thought of that. Ideally it would not flow out (freeflow). You want some control. Probably the best solution would have been to get some more straps on the sides. Real full face masks have got straps at the sides, top and bottom.
@theartist81892 жыл бұрын
@@WaterlineShorts or possibly.... keep the snorkel on... but find a way to make the exit hole smaller

It isn’t really a fail but the mask is not tight enough so if u do this one again with a tighter full face mask then it would be a success

@markvincentcocjin4 жыл бұрын
That would make the mask prone to flooding. There's a reason why the regs on full-face masks are located at the bottom.
@derickneria9567 Жыл бұрын
In my opinion I think you did demonstrate that it could work. However, that craftsmanship and the way you put them together is kinda hinky dinky. You need to change the glue, the rubber strap and the way you cut the material need to be flushed. You will definitely have a hard time holding on the mask because the air is present and that is why it is hard to secure the mask in place. You will have to figure out how to separate the breathing inlet and the face lens so you can have water enter the lens and not to create buoyancy to the mask. It was fun watching your video. Maybe you could make the snorkel and convert it to a full mask COVID 19 resistant mask.
