Edmund Fitzgerald for one. I was in college when that happened. I can see Lake Superior through my window. Won’t live anywhere else. Almost 70 years now. Fresh air, I never take it for granted. 😊

The video is very informative in addressing DCS in general. I just have a small note: gas molecules themselves do not compress, it's the space between them that gets reduced.

Any tips for people with the fear of open water? I want to take up diving, I've always wanted to do it but even more so because I'm so scared of it. but the idea alone makes me light headed and short of breath, watching this made me a little dizzy with anxiety. So are there any tips on how to overcome this?

Actually when you clear your mask you can just push down on the middle top part of the mask

I agree with your formula, but... Many of the components of diving equipment are legitimately considered life support equipment and as the lion's share of good tropical diving is in remote developing countries (read: meager gear, poorly maintained) I would not recommend renting as a primary choice. Seldom have i encountered rental gear as good or as well-maintained as my own. Rent only until you are sure what equipment you want/need then buy it. It is questionable logic to reduce personal safety to financial formulae.

Great video! As a diver for 43 years who's been landlocked for the past 10, I constantly do this analysis every time I consider upgrading/updating my gear.

Well, what if instead of compressed air you replace the tanks it with 100% oxygen. would that help with D.C.S or no ?

I shopped around mid level of a modest 3,500 range... equipment, one suit and bag, two dive watches. Let alone all the accessories for a stable dive and breakdown for tech and location... thanks for the appropriation stats. Nice look.
