Good Call on leaving that last bit alone. I once had a piece that took seven tries to get it cut and then the guy helping foil broke it. But the next time only took 5 trys!

Ouch! I'm learning that it's all so fragile, so if a cut is good enough leave it and celebrate!

Awe! Thanks so much for the shout out! The cutter is awesome and definitely going to come in handy. I love your footage from Norway. That place is unreal! I'm on pins and needles for how everything comes out! I can't wait!

I'm sorry you struggled so much with that piece but it was still an interesting and educational to watch. I really appreciate when you do show your mess ups because I learned a lot from what to and not to do. I did have a question though, is there a reason you wouldn't use the grinder to take big chunks of that stuff off I know it would be time-consuming, but would it not help more than the grossing pliers? I'm not too sure though since I'm new at it so I'm just asking

Hey good question. I was just determined to trim the glass that way using the grossing pliers (kinda silly) but the grinder would get you there too. But most importantly I learned that those types of cuts are way too difficult to try again without scoring all around first so you just have to choose how close you want to get before grinding. It does take a while to grind down too and will also wear your bit so something to think about as well.

I use the Power Max II Grinder, I really love it. The cleaning process is so much easier than other grinders I've used (Inland brand). Not counting shipping it is about $170. The back of the grinder has a lip(?), don't know what to call it, that keeps water from getting into the grinder if there is overflow. Yeah "The Grinder" has a lot of bells and whistles, but at the end of the day all you really need is a grinder, if you don't want glass to get on your face (it inevitably will) wear a face mask (that's what I do). But if you want to buy "The Grinder" by all means go ahead, I just thought I'd offer some opinions. Edit: Oh and for the price of "The Grinder" you could almost get a ring saw, which would pretty much eliminate the frustration of chipping away at the odd shaped pieces (and result in less broken glass). I"m saving up to buy one myself.

Thanks for your thoughts! Honestly I don't have space for anything new but have been geeking out on the design. But a ring saw? That would just be next level!

@@StainedGlassDIY Haha yeah, I"m waiting to get one before I do really complex things (Skyrim Logo).

You'll need a ring saw for that one. That logo is crazy! Ha

have you thought about getting a Taurus ring saw 3? its a bit of money but will help you with really hard cuts so I'm sure it would be worth it.

Where in Norway did you go? It was beautiful! You stressed me out too much cutting #37. I can say that 37 is officially my least favorite number now lol

Honestly "The Grinder" is way over priced. Over 300$ for the same thing you already have in another shape with a different motor. 75$ more than the most expensive alternatives. Most people I've seen rave about how quiet the motor is but grinding the glass is the loudest part. So I'm not sure how a quiet motor effects anything. Most of the features feel extremely gimmicky like the face shield with LED's. That probably costs you an extra 40$ on the price when you can get a clip lamp from Walmart or a second had store for next to nothing. I've also read about how you can't use a foot pedal with it due to the motor type. Also apparently it has a design flaw that if you overfill the water tray it will pour the water down the shaft hole into the motor and ruin it. Not sure how you forget to make sure the water stays out of the motor when making a grinder... If you have issues with your grinder slipping around get some rubber, felt or cork and glue some feet on the grinder. Rant over :P Project is looking nice! Good job getting that odd part done! Don't ya just love cutting the same one a million times???

Ruining the motor with the overflow is a scary thought. I'll look more into it before buying. It does look like a sweet new tech toy, I guess arguably the same conversations about macs and pcs... I wasted so much glass on that piece...but learned a ton :)
