With a new house, a blank slate and no storage these cabinets are the perfect budget, time, and aesthetic friendly option. This is a cheap and easy DIY project that anyone can do to solve your garage storage needs. These are not Newage but they kinda look like them. We go through the process of sanding, painting, and installing these kitchen style cabinets in the garage. These cabinets were purchased at Lowes although Home Depot has a similar option. I used one 24” corner, two 24”, one 15”, one 36” short, and one 12” cabinet in this project. Then I give you my final thoughts and review and what I would do differently was I to do it again.

I would like to start my comment with a simple Thank you. I have spent 3 weeks trying to find a quality DIY Garage Cabinets | Easy & Cheap Storage video to watch with my 3 kids, beloved wife, Sara and 5 cats, one named Bart. At last, my great-grandma sent this video saying "Look how this adorable young man shows how to make a DIY Garage Cabinets | Easy & Cheap Storage both cost effective, and stylish." I doubted the shear power of the video as I had seen many sad, dull, and plain appalling DIY Garage Cabinets | Easy & Cheap Storage videos, but not yours. Your opener was like biting into a sweet, succulent, freshly picked apple on a perfect spring day. It was satisfying, and I felt truly evolved listening to you describe what you are going to do. Your voice is that of an angel, and your manly, calloused, pale hands from the forgings of heaven. Your authenticity, love, and craftsmenship has made this video immaculate and I would shake your hand, risking Corona, if the opportunity arose. Throughout the video you go in-depth, demonstrating the true knowledge of DIY Garage Cabinets | Easy & Cheap Storage. I watched this video and created 42 cabinets all for my mass array of rocks. You see, when I was a boy, growing up in rural Idaho was no easy task, my father gave me many lashes, and in order to suppress those dire feelings, I turned to my one true love, rock collecting. Your use of 3D modeling has brought me to the new level of intellect, and I 3D modeled each and every one of my 257,845.6 beautiful and succulent rocks to see how glorious they would look on my 42 DIY Garage Cabinets | Easy & Cheap Storage. You see, all other DIY Garage Cabinets | Easy & Cheap Storage videos were dull and the rocks and I were not pleased with the outcome of the videos. Until I found yours, your elegance and beauty in the demonstration of creation were beautiful. Once again, thank you. 6.9/10

I used the same cabinets in my current garage in Houston TX. I will say the heat and humidity have caused some of the adjustable shelves to warp and droop in the middle. I also used the corresponding base cabinets……the drawers are very week and damage easily if over loaded. Also the interior floor of the base cabinets are not very strong so be careful not to over load. I’m currently designing my next new garage with the same cabinets but I will be reenforcing all the week points I mentioned. Also, to achieve a better paint finish caulk all the seams before painting…….especially on the door fronts. I also use a airless sprayer to paint my cabinets.

That’s some wild texture on those walls. No wonder the stud finder had trouble. The cabinets look great, especially with the PC tool box. I have the same box but mine is a Dewalt. Caulk the face edge before you slide them together and you’ll never have a gap. Great job it looks fantastic!

I had to quit using stud finders...they keep going off as soon as I touch 'em! [insert pause for my wife to stop laughing] thank you, I'll be in town all week.... :-) Great video, my friend! A couple of thoughts for you...you may have done this, but before removing the tape from the door (after spraying the 2nd color), run a razor along the tape edge, so it doesn't pull up paint off the wood. A second idea...after you sand the raw wood smooth (at 400) go back a level or two to 320 or 120 grit, for a lite sanding. It gives the paint more surface to grab onto. And, since you had sanded to 400, the benefits of that are still felt. I did this with a super thick paint, and the results were very nice. one other thing....I saw you removed the board you used to hold up the cabinets that you originally put up for a flat edge to work off of; on a project I did with a carpenter, the client was concerned about the holes in the wall, so once I pulled down the 1x4 I had up there, I replaced it with some trim (the same as what was on the top of the cabinets) so it matched and looked really good. The customer loved it, and my boss' opinion of me went up that day. I hate to think how long ago that was, now....(sigh) Again, nice work! I've watched several of your videos now, and I thought you might be a teacher from the way your present what you do. (Despite my personal scholastic history, I actually mean that as a compliment!) All the best!

I guess the main bodies of these cabinets are not oak, but some sort of plywood or MDF, right? Watch out for humidity, especially when parking damp cars or during wintertime. Plywood or MDF is usually not very stable in damp conditions... I had a plywood cabinet in my garage and all the boards bent through in wintertime, since the garage was only partially heated and not very dry. I changed most of the load carrying elements of the cabinet with phenolic plywood, which is outdoor rated and will deal a lot better with moisture.

Did u know that tape measures have little diamond shapes as notches as measurements for studs already on them. Idk if all tape measures have them but that's what those marks are for.
@ThatTechTeacher427
@ThatTechTeacher427 3 жыл бұрын
Ya you are correct diamonds or arrows that indicate every 16". Once you find the first stud you can use that to find the next ones. The only problem I have have found with that is you do not 100% know what is going on inside the wall. The framer may not have been perfect, when 2 walls meet sometimes studs get off pattern or even if you dont line the tape measure up with the center of the stud you can miss the centers of the studs you are find. That being said I like the heads up.

It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better kzbin.infoUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.

I highly doubt any big box store sells solid oak cabinets for $71...the "Solid" wood alone would probably cost more that. The face frame is solid wood, but the caraccas is oak veneered MDF. You should have used a wood filler to fill in the grain, as oak is a open grain wood. This would have helped hide the awful oak wood grain that you can clearly see through the paint. May okay for the garage, but not for me. Curious why you didn't just build them yourself?
