I got introduced to this type of "art" via Facebook, and thought, "I wanna do that!" I have just started gathering pieces to begin some projects. Thanks for your instruction/inspiration; I only have to figure how to manage space in my small apartment, to accommodate all the "treasures" I bring home, and then put together, haha. :D

That clock face bottle with that old fashioned glass candle holder, then you mentioned the teacup, those are all characters from Beauty and the Beast. That would be awesome if you could make a nice Garden outdoor lamp or Fountain out of that. So cool. Thanks for giving a theme for my up coming event.

omg, I just cleaned an area of my garage...now I have to fill it with supplies to make these beauties! You have awesome tips for someone beginning, like me. I love how you explained EVERYTHING. Too many people just edit so it looks like it is easy. You showed things to watch out for. LOVE that! I wish you would have showed samples in your environment.

I always leave my pieces to sit over night after I glue them just to make sure they are stuck together. My husband brings me home things from his job that are headed for the garbage just to see what I can do with them sometimes things sit around and then the idea light bulb comes on and I get glues and all kinds of tape and paint so I am one very happy lady..

I loved your idea, as did my neighbors! I went to a nearby thrift store and bought 3 "vases" and 3 clear bowls, all of them glass. I used Gorilla's Glue on one of the bowls and decorated with gold heart buttons. On another, I used regular Hot Glue from a glue gun and decorated with big plastic buttons. I know it is HOT in southern Utah but I was surely surprised to see 3 of my plastic buttons, adhered with a glue gun, slip right off of the bowl while the glue melted because of the heat!!! I hate summer in southern Utah, 100 miles north of Lost Wages!

A weird thing is that in the 1980's they were used for snorting cocaine. It was a clue to the police to keep an eye on the people who wore them. That is why they went out of style. If you don't use the spoons for that purpose, there is no reason to worry !

Question: did you re-glue the same pieces that you used E-6000 on??? If there is any remnant of E-6000, the silicone has a chemical reaction to it and it won't set up. I learned this myself when I tried an experiment using E-6000 on the inside surface, and silicone to seal around outside edge. I researched on line and learned the two are NOT compatible! That was most likely the issue. Otherwise, E-6000 cannot withstand high temperatures. It doesn't do well outside in some climates. However, Silicone is made for exterior windows/glass to seal, so it is 100% water proof and sun proof. Manufacturer says up to 400 degree surface temperature. So humidity should not be an issue with silicone. You should try again but use ONLY 100% silicone. Wash pieces WELL to ensure any oils, grease, perfumes, grime etc. (possibly wax) etc. is not on the surface. Then, apply a bead around the outside edge so it squishes out the sides when you press the two pieces together. Take your finger and smooth the bead around all sides wiping off the extra. When dry, the two pieces are sealed together and protects water from getting in between surfaces. I use silicone for my towers almost exclusively and it's great stuff!

It is sold in hardware stores or even dollar stores in USA. If you absolutely cannot find it, look up a Marina repair shop or fisherman/hunter shop for Marine quality silicone. Best of luck! PS-costs about $3 at Walmart. or Meijers.or Lowes or Home Depot...plastic tubes with caps, even though they cost more, they last a lot longer than the caulking gun types because those dry up and savings are wasted.
