This is the best DIY for a gelatinous cube that I have ever seen. His turned out perfectly. I don't know what it is about the gelatinous cube that is so intriguing, but I love those things. It's easily my favorite DnD monster that they have ever created.

Awesome, the dreaded cube has always been a fav of mine. I purchased ultra thin led puck lights that were battery operated to use as the base for my cubes. They also come with a multi color remote so I can change the color of the clear cubes I used. I just painted the puck black and went the lazy route lol. Love the cube you did, your work never disappoints. Great stuff.

@@TabletopWitchCRAFT My wife and I bought the pumps when we purchased some 2L jugs. It's sooo much better. Oh, and I love that you added the LED. I had a design for one just like yours, but it was early on and I hadn't much experience with resin so I had envisioned having to suspend an object inside using fishing line. Of course, waiting until it's set somewhat is a far better solution.

So I was thinking, there is a resin(?) or a clear rubber that if you mix slightly wrong, it becomes very wobbly and not stiff. Almost like a jello, so when you place this based Gelatinous Cube on the gaming table, it will shake and wobble each time you move it. It's hilarious in contrast to everything else on the board being static. It even wobbled from dice hitting the table. **sigh** But I can't remember now, it was along time ago I made my Gelatinous Cubes, but it might have been made with some 'chemicals/resins/fluid mixtures/glues/liquid rubber intended for boats'. I used to use those boat solutions a while back as they are 9/10 of the price and 9/10 stronger, better, longer lasting than the equivalent that is usually sold to us terrain builders/hobbyists. 'Boat glue' must be the strongest glue there is.

If you dont have or know where to buy these liquid dyes if some stores aren't carrying them. I wonder if water base food dyes will work just as good as the expensive ink dyes. I may just have to experiment and see if food dye will work.

I would definitely do some tests first as some resin will react badly to certain dyes.
@michaelshort1411
@michaelshort1411 2 жыл бұрын
Ok I finally did a test using some 2 part epoxy resin glue like Loctite which I know many will use instead as a substitute and I used the water base Schilling Assorted food&egg dye. First I used only 2 drops of green dye and it came out really dark green so I tried to lighten it up with some yellow food dye. But I didnt put a few drops in, for when I tried the add a few drops it squirted a large amount of yellow so I mixed it up anyways hoping it would lighten the green dye. At first it looked like a dark muddy brown color instead. After drying over night I was kinda glad to see the color it turned out. Instead of the muddy brown color, after holding it up to the light, the yellow and green separated. What I got was this cool looking yellow with streaks of orange like a tie dye color and the green turned out to be these little specs of green dots giving the look of bacteria growing in the epoxy. I'm gonna have to try it again using the actual 2 part epoxy resin and see how the food dye turns out.

Nice but that's more like a cubette. I've never seen a gelatinous cube that small. Plus I was looking for a DIY gelatinous cube tutorial and this isn't one. With all the stuff you have and are using I'd probably be spending $50-$100 on just the material and equipment just to make that and at that price I could just go online and buy a gelatinous cube for like $10.

It's a concept... make it huge if you want. That's a great idea! And I have to disagree that this is not a tutorial. I make crafts with the supplies I have. I can't assume what the world will have with their craft supplies. This cost me a few bucks.
