Looks really good. I've been trying to find one of these videos painting the cube without an airbrush. I couldn't find one so I winged it. I'm happy enough with the results. I just thinned the paint to a wash consistency and tried to keep the coats light so I didn't get "drips" or " runs" and finished with a brush on gloss varnish. I'm gonna check out more of your videos.

Would you ever paint a bluish tint on the inside of the cube part and green on the outer part? To add depth?
@DevsDice
@DevsDice 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah that could definitely be a thing! I did it on the inside-part of the Gelatinous Cube so yeah! :)

Great idea using the Greenstuff world inks to colour it. It has come out looking brilliant. Great work.

Thanks! Yeah I knew that inks contain little or no medium which means that they tint, I think I will be using it again soon actually on some water but this time with a much more gradient look! Thanks again! :)

Noob question: how would you recommend someone paint this with normal brushes, if they lack an airbrush like yours?
@DevsDice
@DevsDice 4 жыл бұрын
So I used inks for this to preserve the transparent nature of the miniature. If I was using brushes then I would either drybrush on some inks, or try glazing them on very thinly. That being said, I really recommend getting a cheap airbrush because it's faster, the result gets better and you can use it for many things such as priming on a rainy day. Hope this helps. Thanks for commenting. :)

Nice video. I can tell you are a D&D player because you use the words “sort of” way too much lol. I think Chris Perkins is to blame for that. :)

Thank you Leif for another wonderful video. I think it looks fantastic. Appreciate your efforts to be transparent with us and for all the effort you made showing the finished paint job for the interior piece. We all make goofs and mistakes sometimes, don't be too hard on yourself for making a simple human error.

How would you recommend someone hand paint the cube without losing transparency?
@DevsDice
@DevsDice 4 жыл бұрын
I would say that try some dry-brushing either ink or a contrast paint. That way, you should be able to get a hint of color but it would not be "gloppy". I have actually never tried this but logically it should work! :)

@@DevsDice I've seen some vids that show hand painting, but they say you can see brush strokes with good lighting.

Are the intensity inks like a wash?
@DevsDice
@DevsDice 4 жыл бұрын
I would say no. A wash and an ink both "tint" but an ink has a very much stronger pigment in it. I would say that an ink or perhaps a contrast paint would do the best job. The intensity inks are just called intensity for branding but really the difference between then and any other ink is minimal. Hope this helped! :)

This would have to be the best one I've seen painted so far. Well done. Did you do much in the way of prep work before airbrushing the model? or is it possible to spray ink straight away without cleaning or priming with varnish?
@DevsDice
@DevsDice 4 жыл бұрын
I cleaned the model a bit but nothing more! That being said, hit the outside with gloss varnish once you are done with the inks to achieve a more transparent look! Also you for your nice comment! :)

@@DevsDice instagram.com/bdubminiatures/ It didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped. The white ink was too thin for my airbrush. I stripped it back and kept the outer layer clear, keeping the middle section a deep purple. I'll have to get myself another one for experimentation. Thanks for the inspiration though man, it got me experimenting on new things. Now I'm hunting for other clear plastics to try things out with.
@DevsDice
@DevsDice 4 жыл бұрын
@@3lth Hey! I think the stripped version looked good! One thing I thought of, have you tried artist incs? Cause I think if you do a thin layer of this then you should be able to tint it and then get the transparency with gloss varnish. If I wanted pink then I would try shooting for instance Liquitex 30 ml - 114 Quinacridone magenta through the airbrush and thin it out with some thinner also! ALSO! Thank you so much for sharing your Instagram - following you now! ;)
